Are flights cheaper today because it's Tuesday, or because airlines are trying to match up with Amazon Prime type discounts? I want to fly from Newark to Jacksonville the week before Thanksgiving, and usually flights are over $350. Today they're around $200. I assume the cost will be increasing soon?

Prices are so random I doubt it has anything to do with prime day since flights are the one thing you can’t buy on amazon

Most airlines are guilty of crap like that
Not the same thing. I fly a lot. As much as I hate United for swallowing up Continental, if I’m stranded in Jax, they’ll get me home, if in a roundabout way. Frontier, I got stranded and they said we’ll rebook you on the next flight out...in two days. No thanks.

Don’t fly Frontier.
My friend got stuck in Myrtle Beach yesterday . Frontier cancelled the Flight at the last minute

I got stuck in Myrtle Beach a few years ago when flying Spirit Air. I had a Sunday morning flight and they called me as I was checking out of my motel to tell me they can put me on a Tuesday night flight. I rented a car and drove back. The problem with these low cost airlines is they have few flights and no spare planes. If one goes down, they simply cancel the flight.

Cheap is expensive.
Don't go out to lunch or dinner a few times and use the money you save to fly a real airline.

If the small airlines cancel, sometimes they’ll reimburse your alternate travel expenses if you write a courteous letter.
