I did a search here for a post and it said the words were too short to do the search so I am starting a new post even if there has already been one. I suffer from an arthritic left hip and will be getting it replaced in the future. I do suffer from pain and am on some pain meds already. Many people have talked about CBD usage but it is something very hard to research. There are so many brands and so many reviewers it is hard to iron it down to usable trustworthy info.

I am looking for info on
1) Does it work?
2) Recommendations for a good brand/supplier and form
3) How is it used/administered?
4) anything else that enlightens on the usage CBD

I am of the camp that CBD is the 21st century snake oil. 1.) No 2.) They all pretty much buy the CBD in bulk, then make their own product. I know someone who does this. 3.) Usually in a cream or lotion.

She stopped the shots, started studying RA, diet and exercise is the key but the sugar is the main thing. She got tested for what food she is allergic too. Her RA Doc told her years ago that she knew to much as he tried to prescribe different meds and she would study the meds and ask about side effects and so on....
She doesn't go to him any longer, you would never know she had RA, she rides a bike about an hour about every other day. It's amazing to see her now. But she is very discipline in her diet, friends call her all the time asking for advice but most can't do what she does or want.
Good luck Bruce, sorry for a long post but when I see or hear of folks with arthritis I realize one can help themselves somewhat. Diet and exercise being the key. Btw, I don't eat fast foods any longer and have cut way back on sugars or sweets. Stay healthy.

My uncle’s experience

Upper 60’s. Couldn’t lift his arms overhead without extreme discomfort due to a career of manual labor. Had been in pain for years. Started taking cbd and after a month or so of one or two drops a day (not sure what his regimen was but I think they were taken orally) he was not in pain. He was preaching the cbd gospel to his brother while swinging his arms around like a windmill, pain free.

I strongly suspect CBD is snake oil but have heard plenty first hand accounts of it truly helping people, so who knows. If only we could get marijuana off Schedule 1 so it could be researched...

I know it's anathema to older generations, but get your hands on some THC. Far higher (no pun!) chance it gets you some real pain relief.

I don’t know if it will help you, but it has helped me sleep and has helped with inflammation I have in my back from an injury.
Nuleaf naturals is the one I use. You can find promo codes for it

I got some recently, basically due to the boredom during the quarantine. First things first, buy it online from someone reputable, not your local vape shop or whatever. I didn't feel too much from it, but it did seem to relax me and my typical pains didn't seem as bad. You can do it in dropper form or gummies, I did the dropper. Final verdict for me was kinda bleh. Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't.

Ever tried DDP Yoga? Fantastic for former athletes with chronic pain. It's cured my back pain and I'm as flexible as ever, knees and shoulders are finally starting to get right again. There was a period there where I seemed to pull a muscle during every workout, so take it slow and let tendons adjust. I don't even have to take ibuprofen anymore.

You realize it’s FDA approved for epilepsy right? That’s kind of the opposite of snake oil

I tried and it didn't do a damn thing for me. I went back to the real thing. I feel CBD has a placebo effect going on.

CBD has helped me a lot also. It didn't eliminate my pain but lessened it along with helping me sleep a lot better. I have been off of it since all this started and I can tell a difference. Snake oil or not, it helps me. I use the water soluble drops in a cup of water before bed.

I went into a store that had 3rd party testing just to make myself feel better about it.

My assistant and other relatives talked her grandmother into trying it for arthritis. She was putting a few drops under her tongue every day. After 3 days she said she was pain free and talked her husband into trying it. He was amazed how much better his joints felt in a couple weeks. I have arthritis in my thumbs and knees and would love to try it but I'm subject to random drug testing (3x in last 4 years) and the ones I've looked at state in writing you can get a "false positive" from them. One even went as far as to issue a letter to give to your employer saying if you tested positive it was because of their CBD you were taking, that kind of cracked me up. They buy theirs at "Thrive Health" store in Starkville. I saw it at the Texaco on the corner of 182 and Old West Point Rd a few weeks ago too. Testing that's been done show the actual stuff you get when you buy it is all over the place, everything from real CBC to mineral oil w/ Everclear in it (yeah Snake Oil) so be very selective where and whom you buy it from.

My wife and I but KOI brand online. I can say a couple things that the droppers do work and come in different strengths so they will have differing affects. For me personally I use the 1000mcg strength and it really calms me down and helps me sleep. I also feel it has a short half life which has about a 3-6 hour effect.

What I do love is balm. I have numerous sports injuries with shoulders and neck and I can tell you that within minutes of massaging those areas the pain and inflammation is gone! It’s worth a try and it’s dependent on the brand you get and how you metabolize it but it’s definitely worth a try to get off of the opioids.

My wife has chronic pain. We tried everything including CBD oil. We eventually tried Kratom. It's been a life saver for her. It only last for about 4-5 hours but for her pain it takes it completely away. We get it from "The Golden Monk" they are very reputable and great service out of Las Vegas. You can check them out on line. My wife takes red MaEng Da. We buy powder a kilo at at time. Hope this helps.

Myself and one of my close friends both have issues with panic attacks and I feel like it puts a cap on how extreme they can get. Definitely helps me in that aspect, but not sure about your situation.

Listened to a horror story concerning Kratom a month or 2 ago on Supertalk radio in MS. A woman's husband was addicted to it and eventually overdosed. He took it for pain as well. She was talking to Gallo about it and some states are outlawing it and if I remember correctly MS was considering it.

cbdMD gummies for me and their sleep aid for my wife.

It’s really helped with her sleep and my anxiety can get really bad and it’s helped me tremendously.

Also I got a cbd preroll and smoked it for first time last weekend. I was pretty hungover and anxiety was at 6/10. Totally changed my mood

this is totally true ... the CBD will mellow or balance somewhat the effect the THC has but THC infused oil or alcohol tincture is far better and almost immediate relief .... CBD by itself works but like several medicines it needs to be maintained in your system for a while before noticing relief ..... those calling it a snake-oil (like I used to do) may not have tried it or did not use it enough to receive the benefits from it.

1. Yes it works, but it needs a small amount of THC in it to get all the benefits of thr CBD.
(my wife is going through breast cancer right now and it has been a lifesaver for her)
2. Start with a 20-1, 10-1 or 5-1 CBD to THC, These are all regulated since it contains some THC
(If you just are using CBD, there is no regulation, so not telling what you are getting, there is no way to know the real strength or what else is in it)
3. You can take ebible candy, chocolates, powder to put in drinks, topical creams, or drops from a tincture..etc..
4. With more THC vs CBD you will get some effects from the THC, that's why you start with a low THC content

My father-in-law swears by CBD/THC, he us taking a 2-1. I have tried several types and they really help with pain and sleep issues.
Unfortunately in MS you can only get plain CBD, but if you know someone in a state where THC is legal they can send you some.
Good Luck!

I think it depends on the individual. The cream seems to have a numbing effect for a short time, but I can't tell a thing different when I tried the drops.

So basically we need it in its natural form. I would agree. Legalize it already.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I will just have to give it a try. I am pretty cynical and tend to lean towards not believing in things like this.

I took CBD for over three months, every day. Did absolutely nothing for me. And yes, it was gold quality. Without THC, it's pretty worthless for me.

The THC helps to activate the CBD so you can get the most out of it.

The THC gets you high...lol. And I don't mean the minuscule amount in CBD. The best edibles don't have a lot of CBD oil imo. To each their own with it though because different strains of weed do people differently.

Not in small doses, you won't really even feel a thing.

Yeah, I got the CBD with the highest THC I could find and nothing....no sleep, pain relief, nothing. It just doesn't work for me. And truthfully, the real stuff isn't much more expensive than some of the CBD, so I think people are getting ripped off with some of it.

There's no doubt it's vastly, vastly overpriced. $110 + sales tax at a local shop for 1 oz liquid, 1000 mg. It's full spectrum, which means it has a miniscule amount of THC in it.

What's a good online site?

Wrong on all points. While there certainly are some places offering shady CBD, if you get yours from a reputable retailer it is high quality and effective. You want to go with a full spectrum hemp oil, usually prepared in a tincture. Capsules are also available. Two of the top brands are Functional Remedies and Elixinol.

They mention hemp oil as being the same as CBD oil. I don't think it's the same. And it appears to come from China, so there's no telling what you're getting.

Hemp Oil contains CBD and other canabinoids. . .

They come from Colorado, not China. From two of the most respected producers in the business. Hemp is where the CBD comes from. In a full spectrum hemp oil you get everything from the plant. CBD being the main canabinoid among others.
