If I'm not mistaken, doesn't he also receive most if not all of the Nike shoes contract$?

So ucla offers him less than he's currently making and they actually thought he might consider it?? What am I missing?

if lifetime contracts are a thing now, it's time we step up and give one to Coach Frost

I don’t think we have to worry about SF leaving Nebraska for another college job...

I would think the opposite: He's in the spotlight in Lexington, college sports are generally an afterthought in LA.
Plus the PAC-12 BB games are on ESPN2 or PAC-12 network at about 11 pm Eastern time. Even in years when the conference has some really good teams, nobody sees them.

That is funny...they literally do the old "Back up the truck" bit and Cal turns them down...

1. UK is a better job, by far, than UCLA
2. Kentucky...hold on let me check...yep...Kentucky has a way cheaper cost of living.
3. Kentucky fans actually like basketball and sports.
So UCLA's "back up the truck" offer is equal (or possibly even less) than what he's making now? An impressive offer, Bruins.

Well someone said UCLA was prepared to offer up to $10 million/year and they offered $6 mil, so I guess that falls in the "up to" range, right? Can't imagine why Calipari turned it down.

I relayed $10 mill/yr , the media reported the rumor of $50 Mill for 6yrs = $8.333 million per yr.

What's crazy is that UCLA flies in commercial flights.. Apparently Cal requested that they would need to upgrade their travel to charter flights. Crazy how UCLA doesn't have enough money to fly their basketball team on a charter flights.

Maybe with bonuses. I don't know
My bad - I misread the article, which suggests they offered $8 mil/year rather than 6. So that’s higher than I thought UCLA would go, but still isn’t going to land them a guy who’s already at a blueblood program.

Academic standards
Resource constraints
SoCal distractions
All make Kentucky the place to be

I think UCLA fans have come back down to earth (remind anyone of anyone) and it's a better job than some give it credit for. Calipari would bring in the biggest recruits they've had since that one guy named Walton, and he'd win there.

Having said that, Kentucky seems like a better job BUT, he hasn't made a final 4 in 4 years?? and Kentucky fans are not that patient are they? I was under the impression they felt like national title were their birth right. At any rate, I would have stayed to but I'm not sure it's as far of a reach as others.

The Bruins job isn't what it once was, but it floors me that NU could very well end up with a better BB coach than UCLA.
