Are there any butchers in the Jackson area? Looked on Google and I didn't see anything. Hearing Hadad pimp Welcome Home Beef has made we want to try some Picanha. I also have never smoked a tri-tip and those big beef ribs are really hard to find.

Flora Butcher is good but expensive. Costco and the Sam’s in Pearl both have a good meat department

Don't disagree about Costco the ribeye that I cooked this week was great but do they have picanha, tri-tip or beef ribs, not the thin sliced short ribs?

The Fresh Market in Ridgeland has a good meat selection. Not sure about picanha and all that, but they do get some high quality beef in there.

Go to Grills Of MS! Just remembered they have picanha. Costco does carry beef ribs but they are hit or Miss and tri tip however the tri tip is pre-seasoned.

Country Meat packers in Florence. Call and see what they have. Not sure if they have what you are looking for but they do have good quality meat.

My costco frequently stocks prime tri-tip. However, my South American friends like it less because the typical fat cap is already trimmed.

McClains in Rankin Co on Hollybush has great meat. If they don’t have it they can get it for you.

On Saturday I went to Country Meat Packers and got several things including a tri tip. I never had a tri tip before. Yesterday morning I put some kosher salt on it placed it on rack and put it back in the refrigerator. When I got home I let sit out for about an hour then added black pepper, and brisket rub let it sit for another 15 minutes. Put on the Traeger at 225 until the temp got to 110. Then seared it in a iron skillet with beef tallow. That might have been the most flavorful piece of meat that I have ever eaten.

I got introduced to these things when I lived out in CA in the 90s. They are beefy as hell, just have to watch the grain when you're slicing them. Try a Santa Maria out for size some time. We always grilled them, but a reverse sear like you did would probably be the perfect method for this cut.
