I've seen the real Pink Floyd many times over the years. No interest in cover bands.Saw them at McCall Hall in Seattle a few years ago. Great show, but made me wish I had seen the original Pink Floyd.
I will be at the show tonight in NB State Theater. Anyone else going?
Definitely agree on cover bands of a single artist. Can tolerate being at a bar, where a cover band is covering many bands, although I'd rather just hear a good DJ who plays a good variety of the original artists' tunes (like me, lol).I've seen the real Pink Floyd many times over the years. Saw Pink Floyd's Animals and Wall tours in '77 and '80 iirc. Have never seen such a stoner crowd as a Pink Floyd crowd. Back then they were one of my favorite bands.

Some terrific show last night RU Golfer.
Talk of cover band is ridiculous.
The show was great! I have seen Pink Floyd, Aussie Floyd and Brit Floyd. I can honestly say Brit Floyd plays Pink Floyd as good if not better than Pink Floyd. Show was great!

I had an old girlfriend that told me the exact same thing about four guys that covered the Beatles in a show called Beatlemania.----
I think you would change your mind if you saw this group

Nope. It was a rough night for me.
I just don't care for tribute groups. Play your own damn music.
Big difference between an original music band doing a few cover songs (and making them their own, like the Beatles did with most of their covers) and a tribute band that is trying to exactly copy an original band's catalog in concert. You do realize that a lot of the music that the Beatles played wasn't their own, right?
Same goes for most musical acts. Cover songs are a big deal.

I've just never understood the allure of tribute bands - if you want to hear the original band, just put them on and if you want it loud, turn it to 11.
You're not a musician.
There's a great deal to be said for watching someone master David Gilmour's guitar artistry (for example). There's a big difference between listening to a recording and watching talented musicians perform that same music, live.

Well, that doesn't count for me, as I have zero appreciation for classical music. Or opera.Couldn't agree more. It's like when the New York Philharmonic or Boston Symphony Orchestra decide to play old music like Beethoven or Chopin or Bach. I mean, if I wanted to listen to them I'd go attend one of their concerts. Damn tribute bands!:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Although I do like Roll Over Beethoven. And The Who's TOMMY.
Live at Leeds and Who's Next are two of my favorite albums. IMO Live at Leeds is the best live album ever.'aye 'ate da 'Ooo.

Who is Bonamassa ?
I saw Brit Floyd and thought the show was great.
There is another national touring band called Beyond the Wall. I paid $25 a ticket and firmly believe I was completely ripped off. I think the guitar.bass and keyboards for virtually every song is all prerecorded and portions of the vocals too. Felt like I plunked down $50 to see an air guitar show. What do you think
Who is Bonamassa ?
Probably the best living blues-oriented guitarist. If you like Eric Clapton, if you like Jimmy Paige, you'll like Joe Bonamassa. Check out his "British Blues Explosion Live!" album.
i think "The Wall", in of itself, is such an elaborate production, that 5 guys with 1 keyboard aren't ever going to pull it off without X amount of digital help.
personally, i think the The Wall is too long and tedious to sit through the whole thing in concert.
give me Numb, a few others from The Wall, and fill out the show with the other great Floyd stuff.
Numb is Floyd's must have signature song, but even with a tribute band, i'd be disappointed without Us and Them. (back in the 70s there was a great local cover band where i lived at the time, that did Us and Them, and a lot of other stuff, great).
