And it begins….
until he eats some cracklins, black eyed peas and cornbread(with no sugar in it), a mess of turnip/ collard greens, and learns to love sweet tea, he has no chance. I still give him 3 years.
spend a week in New Orleans with chargrilled oysters, gumbo, jambalaya, wash it down with a Sazerac or a hurricane punch. Grab some chicory coffee and beignets. Then maybe, just maybe, he’ll start to communicate effectively.

Considering I am now officially rocking the block R as new LSU faculty, I'll have to try and catch people's reactions. I'll ask if I should have been doing the same. Of course, I am in the northern part of the state where there are more mixed allegiances, so it may not be quite the same. And I say rocking the block R, but for right now it is the faded after-image of a block R ever since my old one fell off last week, until I can get a new one.

His father was a Boston machine politician.
Sliding into accents is probably autonomic for Kelly

Now that you bring it up I can think of a couple of public figures that slide into insulting accents based on their audiences.

(Someone beat me to it)

At least he went there for sports…imagine as an academic going from Notre Dame to red stick? That whole state/city are nasty poop holes…people call NJ and many parts of the NE corrupt…spend some time in Lousyana and your views on corruption will be quickly redefined.

while not saying Kelly is innocent in this regard, I can attest that some people are very susceptible to accents. That is, stick them in a room of, say, Irish.. and at some point they will exhibit a brogue. Stick em in a room with Canadians and at some point.. you will hear "Eh?"

The word that really stands out to me as weirdly, perhaps cartoonishly southern sounding in the clip above is “family.”
