Laphroaig 18 is fantastic.
Any bourbon lovers should try to seek out Weller's. They're like the poor man's Pappy. Heavily wheated bourbon so it has a milder profile and is sweeter than bourbons with a high rye element.
Lagavulin 16 my favorite single malt on a cold winters eve by the fire smoke and, peat permeate this exceptional single malt.Laphroaig is def an aquired taste. I'm interested in trying Lagavulin 16. I had Angel's Envy Rye tonight. was great.
Larceny is a cheaper wheated bourbon that I love.Any bourbon lovers should try to seek out Weller's. They're like the poor man's Pappy. Heavily wheated bourbon so it has a milder profile and is sweeter than bourbons with a high rye element.
I like Templeton Rye.
Only times Ive seen OWA (not often) it is $100+. Forget about Weller 12 or PYCB or WLW - they are the equivalent of finding a unicorn. You can find Old Weller Antique (107 proof) sometimes. Weller 12 is not distributed here. For me personally, I find Weller 12 and Pappy 15+ too aged/subdued. For wheaters, I prefer OWA with the high proof and less aging, or much easier to find Maker's Mark Barrel Proof. Can usually score a bottle of that around 55. Great stuff, and I don't even really like the regular Maker's. Larceny is OK too.

Very nice. It's a good deal at inflated prices - retail is just ridiculous.Gotta know where to look
I've gotten OWA at retail multiple times this past year. Lawrencville Joe Canal's and Bayway in Elizabeth.
didn't hear about that. I still have a little left from my original bottle and one other bottle that I got relatively cheap ($65) since it was really good. Might be that the inventory ran out since it obviously takes a long time to create and age the whisky and young folks with money have revived the whisky industry over the past 15 years or so (I read that at one point in the 80s the demand dropped so much that many distilleries started going out of business), hence also why the prices have skyrocketed as well for the bottlings over 12 years and there are more blended year single malts of the same specific whisky and blended single malts of several whiskies out there now. Makes sense since this was the case with myself and many of my friends - in college you just throw anything back, but after a few years you gain a refined taste and start understanding more and more what is good out there. Its not as much of an issue with the Bourbon/American whiskey industry because their average aging is between 1-6 years, but for Scottish and Japanese in particular there is no way to keep up with the demand for 12+ years anymore without selling multiyear blends (which usually are excellent anyway, and great for our wallets). The Taiwanese (Kavalan) have a great advantage now due to extremely high demand, winning top awards annually, and having a humid climate and the best mountain waters which allow for the highest quality single malts to be produced in basically third of the time. They are super expensive in the US due to tariffs, but this may change down the line due to increasing economic partnering between the US and Taiwan. However Kavalan (King Car Group) is still tiny in production (and probably we are better off that way since often expansion leads to taking shortcuts) compared to the powerful Suntory conglomerate that owns like half of the brands out there now.I think Laphroaig stopped making this. I've got a bottle that I still have not opened yet. Hopefully I get to it soon.
1) which shop rite?Found 2 bottles of Weller full proof recently at the local shop rite. Bought 1 should’ve bought 2
What's the etiquette for a 1.9mm bottle? Have to drink it neat?A bottle of whisky sold for $1.9 million, smashing auction records
A bottle of whisky sold for $1.9 million on Oct. 24, exploding records — again.
The Macallan Fine and Rare 60-Year-Old 1926 became the most expensive bottle of wine or spirit ever auctioned.

Basil Hayden - not hard to find. Bottle king. Excellent. SmoothWhat's your favorite whiskey and what liquor store has the best selection?
As of this writing my favorite is High West's Campire found at Stew Leonard's (although it is not uncommon). One of the clerks said they had been allocated three bottle of Elmer T Lee and ran out the first day.
I've got a few Knob Creek Single Barrel Store Pick Bourbons from the South Jersey Bourbon Club. One 9 year and a 15 year. The 15 is incredible.
Sounds awesome. Since they raised the price on Booker's, I've moved more towards the KCSB, and the store picks always deliver.
No, mix it with egg nog.I'm thinking mix it with some coke and a few ice cubes. 0__0
Man if those are behind glass just put the whole damn store behind glass.I picked up a Knob Creek store pick aged 14 yrs and 9 months and I prefer it over Booker's, Basil, and Baker's 7. KC is a great bang for your buck.
The local liquor store has started placing Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace in the glass case now, so I'm sure they will disappear just like Blanton's. I'm starting to think KC will become my workhorse.
