The longtime Pirates' lefthander passed yesterday.
He was the second most dominant lefthander in the NL during the 60's,his wildness likely keeping him from a spot in Cooperstown.
I saw him pitch in the opening game of the 1967 season vs the Mets at Shea Stadium, undoubtedly the coldest opener in Mets' history.
He was the third member of the Pirates' tasty pitching staff of that era, consisting of Lamb,Moose, and Veale.
