OT: Best humidifier

I've never really thought about why I was waking up choking, with sore throat....then never fully fall back to sleep. I believe my house just has become so dry that it's suffocating me. Pack, I'm going to purchase a humidifier today. Which one to buy, which one to avoid. I'll hang up and listen. Thanks in advance.

We just bought the Vick's vaporizer for my son's room. I like it and we have had the traditional humidifiers before. I like that you can put their vapopads in there and get the good ol' salve menthol smell.

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier is what we got. We've used it for 5 years with our kids and have had zero problems. A couple times a year you need to clean the heating element to get the lime and calcium deposits off, but other than that it's simple to use. Plus it's got the little spot to add the Vick's liquid to the steam if you want.

I know I'm being needy but whats the difference in cool mist and warm mist. Also, filtered and non filtered. I've been reviewing the Vicks Cool mist non filter. Pretty good reviews. Only thing, Monroe's drinking water is literally....is that a siren?.... littered with **** so I don't want my machine to get mucked up. I'm torn. Really only want to spend around 50$ but I'll bump it up a little if need be.

Us river rat's have sensitive snouts. The last week has been miserable to the point Ive prob sleep 6 hours in the last 4 days. I couldn't figure out what was happening....then the light bulb came on.

A warm mist humidifier will produce "cleaner" air because of physics, but it does make your room warmer. A cool mist uses ultrasonic waves to make steam and produces no heat, but doesn't purify the air. You have to clean them more regularly too.

that makes sense. I probably wont be using it much in the summer so I'm not really concerned with a little heat. I keeps it cold anyways. Thanks for the help, my mane.

It doesn't heat up the room that much. You just don't want kids getting too close to the unit because it comes out steaming, literally.

Meet my new friend, Dumbo. Yep, went with this dude. At the end of the day, and not wanting to run all over town, this was the best Target had to offer. So, I ate a late lunch, got home around 4 and fired up the little son of a *****. I just woke up from THE MOST AMAZING nap ever. This one is the Crane Ultra Sonic Cool Mist. It began working instantly. I was able to sleep nap without gagging and didn't wake up until my retarded neighbor came beating on the door to borrow a stud finder. Just thought I'd update. I highly recommend. Carry on.

Yeah, that's likely the problem. Either the heater is running too much, or it's the type of heat source. With the thermostat at 71, I wake up dried out. At 70, I'm fine. Go figure.
