Nope. It's thin, but not crispy.

Moss Creek is the best if you like thin, CRISPY fillets.
Had lunch there today. Very good thin crispy catfish. Wife had the regular catfish and shrimp, all 3 were outstanding. (don't order the turnip greens unless you love lots of sugar in your greens). Orings, fries, good, hushpuppies outstanding. tartar and cocktail sauce were as they should be.

Pretty good catfish and good Bulldogs own it. Their ribeye is excellent too. But service is very spotty. Overall, I prefer Rivers Catfish when I'm back home though. But I do eat at both. Back in the day in the Laurel area, Bosun Joe's was king. But that's been a long time.

NE Mississippi, hard to beat Reeves in Itawamba county. Best hush puppies for sure. NW Mississippi, Chatterbox is great in Red Banks.

It’s all in the breading. Just yellow corn meal does nothing for me. Grew up in Delta, so if it didn’t have Bearden’s breading on it; it ain’t no good.

I make my own breading and use either no or little cornmeal.

The best catfish in the world is just another plate without good hushpuppies, homemade slaw, and fresh tartar for those who want it.

Little Dooeys was good when we left Starkville. My Daughter was back recently and said it was still good.

There used to be a decent place in Columbus near the river but I can't remember the name.

Ditto on the crawfish sauce at Anthony's, our favorite spot in North MS.

I still haven't found decent catfish in Austin. They never get the breading right.

I've eaten there a thousand times any I've never had a bad meal. They have a pretty good beer selection, mostly can and bottles and a limited draft selection. If you want wine or liquor it's BYOB and they provide uncorking and setups. There is a liquor store right down the street at the RR tracks. You can visit the world renowned Brandon Walker smoking lounge next door to the liquor store as well and have something to tell your grandkids about.

Dead on.

It is and it’s a shame, it used to have some really good restaurants. I miss Fisherman’s Bay and S.O.B.. Which if you’ve only been there 4 years you won’t remember either of those. Plus Dock of the Bay was good, and if you liked italian it was hard to beat the original Papa Vanelli’s before they moved to Gloster maybe 25 years ago, which of course the tornado got the Gloster location.

If ever around Livingston. AL just east of Meridian, try Touch Of Home Bakery just south of UWA campus. Fried Catfish on Wednesdays and Fridays. Consistently excellent. Also, best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had.

Pushing the 1-HR threshold but Seafood Junction in Algoma is pretty damn good especially if you get between 430 to 7

You’d already sold me on it, and then you throw in a Brandon walker smoking lounge and how could I NOT go?

Outside of the 1 hour driving distance, but if you’re ever in Olive Branch give Wrays Fins and Feathers a try. They have a buffet or you can just order off the menu. Only open for dinner on Thursdays, lunch and dinner on Fridays, dinner Saturdays and lunch Sundays.

Also, a nod to Cajun Catfish Company in Collierville. The Cajun seasoning on the old fashioned thin is fantastic!

Reubens in Columbus used to be great. It's been so so the last few times I've been. Glenn's in East Columbus does really good catfish fillets along with great pulled pork bbq, great sides as well. Porky's in New Hope does great with their fried fish fillets.

Probably not a place you'd think of but Starkville Cafe has the best catfish in town, hands down.
