I’m sure this post has been done before but what is everyone’s favorite bourbon (on ice)?

Looking to expand my drinking repertoire and I am new to on the rocks. Had a really good $5 drink out last night – name brand was “bourbon ball”, I think, and all the waiter could tell me is his supplier gets it from somewhere.

Start with some good medium priced bourbons: Old Weller Antique, Weller 12, Ezra B 12, Angels Envy, Blantons, Woodford Reserve, Bulleit Bourbon, Bulleit Rye, Elijah Craig 12 SB, Four Roses Small Batch, Four Roses Single Barrel, Calumet.

If you need to cool it, use stainless steel cubes.

If you need to cut high ETOH a bit, which many do to improve nose and flavor, use as little water as necessary by mixing in a teaspoon or less at a time until paint varnish smell is gone.

Over ice you should try rye whiskey as the "spiciest" withstands the melting of the ice better. I recommend Whistlepig.

This guy hit most on the head..

I like basil Hayden, woodford, gentleman Jack, etc...

Whistlepig rye and eh Taylor cured oak are the best I've had and usually have them neat

four roses, small batch, without the ice.
blantons when i can find it, without the ice.

bulleit rye, with or without ice.

Just got on the four roses train.

Always love Blantons.

Buffalo trace is a nice enexpensive bourbon.

However I work outside so when it's 100 degrees I get home it's vodka time. Titos is the only vodka I drink.

Some good answers in the thread. My favorite bourbon to sip Very Special Old Fitzgerald 12, followed by wheated Weller 12. Old Fitz Prime bourbon is great. Bottles under $40- Buffalo Trace, Larceny, Old Taylor.
Colonel Taylor Cured Oak and Seasoned Wood are both stellar, but are hundreds of dollars if you can find them. Also, try to get your hands on a bottle of Blanton's Black from Japan. It's outstanding. I have about 200+ bottles that I rotate around, including many of the Pappy's, but they aren't good drinkers. High West also bottles great whiskeys. Their Yippee Ki Yay and Mid Winter Nights Dram are incredible. Also, if you can find Michter's American Whiskey, that is a phenomenal pour.

My wheelhouse!
Good classic ... Elmer T Lee
If you can handle it... Elijah Craig barrel proof! Absolutely most flavorful bourbon you can find!

Not everyone can ride a bike without training wheels......

I kid I kid! Personally I drink neat.

There are a ton of good options here. I'm a blantons/Jefferson/Willet for my more routine sipping.

Might just have to have a splash now...

Haven't seen it mentioned

Old forester is the best bourbon per dollar and it isn't close and I've been in this industry for 9 plus years

I'd say Stagg Jr for an affordable barrel proof that opens up well with ice. It's the bottle on the third shelf down to the right of the black bottle (Lock Stock & Barrel).

12 year Pappy is the best. I've never tasted a smoother Bourbon.

After that Blanton's, Elmer t Lee, and Bulleit in that order.

Give Wathens a try. It's good too.

Tough to beat Weller 12 - if you can get it.
My go tos for everyday are buffalo trace, four roses small batch and eagle rare.

I like ETL but it ain't good at $60+. It should be 30-40

All the Hardos who act like neat is only way to go are missing out. I'm a rocks guy.
