He had a 5 star commit a couple years ago, but then he backed out of his NLI and went to Louisville last minute. Honestly I felt bad for Johnson there. They have no resources to be successful. Felt like he overachieved this year if anything
No point in paying Lathan that if we have can only have the same supporting cast and a grossly overpaid coach. Last place is last place with or without Lathan.
That was the first NIL year and they had promised that guy $50k. Then the market went nuts - although not as crazy as it is now - and he went to U of L. Don’t know what he got from U of L. I have a connection to this program and Johnson is really well liked.

This is true. I think his 1st year was pre-NIL for him. Similarly, Pike was decent, especially with under-the-radar recruits Pre-NIL. Outside of the draft picks, he’s been a disaster post-NIL. I know lots of people say we have no NIL, but then we can’t be paying him 3.5 million…thanks Hobbs. Going to need to bite the bullet soon, since this now looks like his first year post Jordan again…only this time, we are at an even bigger disadvantage because of NIL.
Because in the past Rutgers was unwilling and unable to pay for talent. There is zero reason that UConn should be where it is and we are where we are, other than mismanagement and not paying up for good coaches. Top coaches don’t care about the past, especially since we are now in the BIG 10, and have the experience and ego to believe they will succeed here.
