Holy crap. OP must be regretting this thread. Poor guy just wanted to know about beer beaches.
OP- I did some googling and did not see anything. I can ask around this weekend while down there...with concealed drinks.

Because it’s a decent thing to do . If you saw a 20 year old drinking in the blue lot, you might warn them before the MCSD comes and messes up their life. You seem like a decent dude and might try to help someone out. But even if you didn’t help them out, I am confident you wouldn’t be on a message board chatting it up how the kid got a ticket as you watched .
Are you assuming these kids don't have parents?? You can get your *** kicked by telling a kid that has parents what and not want to do! Its not your job nor my job. Its the parents job. Kids don't give a rats *** what a stranger thinks. They will live and learn.

I trust that you’re personable enough and have enough emotional intelligence that you wouldn’t get your *** kicked in that situation . Heck, I am sure fellow blue lot members may offer you a drink after that . You seem like a good dude

I am personal enough and smart enough to stay out of other families business. If I knew the family I would talk to the parents not the kids. They can do as they wish. Your wrong that any parent wants you to tell their kids what to do. I'm intelligent but not all parents are. Nobody wants you to become involved with their kids

Not true . Are you a parent ? If you can help my kid not get a ticket and do so , I will buy you a beer . If you can help my kid not get a ticket and choose not to, then laugh about . It’s not gonna end well for that person, trust me .

Haha for sure. Sorry my story got everyone dragged into it.
All I know is I spend more time on the beach in FL than NJ and you can enjoy some drinks there no issue at all. Just no glass. And it’s not a big deal at all, perfectly legal. Oh well.

I actually know someone recently ticketed in Belmar for this. Cop actually told them that if they had conclealed the drink they would have been fine. They only go after people who are not concealing their alcohol.
Damn really? Thanks I have been curious how much they nail you for. Big business.

Food and coolers were allowed on some beaches because of da virus. Not alcohol.

I thought with the new weed laws, cops can’t ask what’s in the cup. Stupid not to put it in solo.

Haha, first of all you would never know I tried to help out. I highly doubt your kid would go running home and say they were slamming drinks on the beach when some old Rutgers alum saved them from getting a ticket. And if the parents are their at the beach with the drinking kids I'm positive it would not end well for you for telling the kids what to do in front of them.
And where did I say I would I would laugh at the kids getting a ticket?? I am laughing at all of your irrational responses however!!

Why would an underage person or anyone think state laws don't apply on a public beach? I can only speak about here but there are signs at every entrance saying alcohol is prohibited.

If you want to do it you just have to be a tad sneaky. Rule #1 is don't do anything that brings undo attention.

It was pretty pathetic in manasquan last weekend watching cops in boots walk around with tickey book in hand snooping into people laying on the beach looking for booze. I wanted to tell the guy to **** himself and get the **** off the beach

Isnt it ok to drink at Sandy Hook because it’s federal, not NJ land? Never saw the staff patrolling the beaches there for booze.

Always thought it was illegal not to drink at Sandy Hook.😀

I saw a group of girls shotgunning Claws on the beach in Belmar last Saturday. The one dummy told her friend that you are allowed to drink on the beach now in Belmar because of COVID. She said to trust her, it's a new law.

They shotgunned a few each and then yeah......that's not a new law. They all got tickets. Haha, I sat there a few feet away with my aluminum bottle having my beverage without a worry in the world watching.
Nowhere does Mullet say that they were underage. A group of recently graduated college girls or maybe even older than that is what I inferred. Absolutely not his business to go over and "warn" them. Probably a good life lesson for them. I personally never mix swimming with drinking but to each his own.

You're right. There's no federal statute saying you can or can't have booze.

From what I've heard you may need to drink if you go to the nude beach. There are some sights you don't want to see sober.

That’s lame. I totally get the belmar cop ticketing the girls shotgunning white claws (ie, they being very conspicuous) but cops putting their noses into peoples red cups (going out of their way to ticket people) is just not how cops should be spending their time (just a $ grab = lame)

I was just talking with someone from Toms River who told me that they now have Beer Beaches at the shore. I know they officially banned alcohol from the beach last year right before Covid, but is this just another money grab from the local shore towns? Anyone have some insight?

Funtown Beach in Seaside Park is cooler and alcohol friendly. It is privately owned so you can drink on the beach.

The public consumption ticket in Squan is now $450 thus the increased enforcement. Still I think if you're discreet about it you can avoid issues.

My exact thought. My immediate thought was, “**** town must be very desperate for $”. It was embarrassing. Id be embarrassed if I was a cop walking in uniform on a beach on a 90 degree day with a ticket book in my hand

Only issue I have had in all the years here. I was standing in front of a house on Brielle (@koleszar knows which one) and without thinking stepped on to the sidewalk carrying an open beer. Boom! A cop appeared out of nowhere and threatened to arrest me???? Ended up with a warning.

I was at the river beach in 'Squan last summer that allows dogs and there was a group of 20 somethings drinking beer on the beach. The woman took her beer cans and threw them in the woods behind her blanket.

I went over and had a conversation with them and they promptly went and pulled their cans out of the woods. Wife and kids thought i was going to get beat up by the guys in the group LOL. Maybe they were scared of the fine?

Were food and coolers not allowed on beaches before?
yes in Spring Lake and Sea Girt. You have to leave your cooler on the boardwalk and go up and eat there. You could only have water by where you were sitting.

Many years ago i was drinking a beer on the Sea Girt beach and the cop came over to me and told me I had to put my cooler up on the boardwalk my been was concealed though so i did not get a ticket....

This is the oddest thread I have read in quite some time and that includes the CE board.

Drinking on the beaches is not legal but no one will bother you or ticket you if you don't act like a jackass or make a scene while doing so. Shotgunning white claws seems like one would be making a scene, so ticket deserved.

Back in the day I saw Belmar cops give people tickets because they were standing on the sidewalk in front of our rental with an open beer. Not allowed, move back a foot onto the lawn, its OK
