My era looked at at least 75% under 90mph.
Today 90 and below is an off speed pitch.

about the trade on more then one occasion. So I knew exactly who it was when you mentioned the trade. Without that clue, no chance.

Sure, but even just comparing Ruth to his own era of players, he scored 150+ runs in a season way more than anyone else in his era.

Of course, it helps being a prolific home run hitter and having Gehrig hitting behind you.

I hit off Ryan, Gooden. Goose, JR Richard and Lee Smith just to name a few.
I wouldn’t recommend attempting to protect the outside corner or keeping that shoulder in against them….
