Have a bunch of baseball cards from late 60’s/early 70’s. Most of big names are in there. Some made it to my Schwinn Grey Ghost spokes, fortunately some didn’t. Anybody have experience in selling old cards? If so, how did you go about it?

Beckett used to have a monthly periodical that would list card values. Find something similar if Beckett doesn't print one anymore. Will give you a starting point for what a card or a series of cards are "worth". The challenge becomes finding someone who will pay you what they are "worth". Dealers usually pay 1/2 of what a card or series is listed for. You can find the values and possibly post on craigslist or eBay but dealers will not budge usually, so be aware.

Dealers want to make money just like a pawn shop so going private would potentially get you more. Last I dealt with cards was in the grade school ground so maybe start there?

I have the same situation, maybe we should trade some like the old days? I looked into getting them graded but the cost of shipping, grading, then 1/2 price to collectors meant the margins were slim.

that is the worst part. unless its some 5 or 6+ figure card, the grading is often more of a detriment with costs, etc to get the evaluation.
the in-person grading (at an office or trade show) are the most expensive options but i dont think id want to mail cards in for something like this.

Stelton Road Holiday inn has a card show third sat every month, so this Sat. if yo uare local bring them have some of the guys give their opinion on condition and value (without sending in for official grade you lose over 50% value)

You can get a idea of the going rate for your cards by checking completed sales on ebay. The price guides may say one thing but the completed sales another.

There is a robust market on eBay and Instagram. Baseball cards have gotten hot again as a hobby, and you can sell and buy online for virtually free across the country.

Almost have the complete color set of 1953 Bowman. Mantle, Rizzuto, Berra, endless treasures. Also have maybe half the set of Black and White 1953 Bowman.
Rock, I'd love to see them sometime. I had no idea you collected cards. Tom and I have well over 100,00 cards, but nothing as vintage as yours.

Got them from my Uncle years ago. Actually me and Bac fight over who they belong to. Brought them to a card show at the old Giants Stadium in the late 80's and a card shop in Hillsborough where the guy said they weren't worth much and would give me some plastic pages for them lol. Most are in pretty good shape. The mantle one last I looked years ago was worth over 6,000 mint. Mine has a slight smudge in the sky. Some day we should get together and I'll bring my book. Also included are these 1950 Color Bowman NFL cards and some Freedom War cards.

If anyone here is seriously considering selling their cards, any sport, let me know. Full collections or individual cards, don’t matter.

PSA, the standard for grading, has a backlog of 10 million cards and is not accepting submissions right now. The rookie market has overwhelmed the industry. New products are almost all rookie heavy, and professional "pack busters" proliferate the market and send everything in to get graded. The whole industry is crazy. Target just eliminated sports cards sales after fights broke out in stores. This was after they had limited sales to one item a day to control the collectors who were camping out. A year ago, retail packs were considered the ugly stepkid of the industry.

How to find values is as simple as looking at ebay and checking the “sold/completed” boxes to see what they recently sold for. The exception would be graded cards, which fetch a premium for high grades.o

Ebay I believe limits the time frame of completed sales, so a rare card won't typically show up. There are some aggregation sites that look further back that might be of some use to gauge value ranges:
