Portland has horrific leadership and a rough homeless problem right now. 10-15 years ago Portland was one of the nicest cities in the country and its only knock was real estate prices starting to climb and too much rain/cloudiness. Long term it will flesh out the current nonsense.
That's not an answer. We all know Oakland is out. Once MLB sends out a press release that Oakland has the green light to look elsewhere Oakland was done. The question is who's next. Many on here are saying Vegas but does Vegas want to spend another $2 billion on another stadium?

Same here. Not many people did though. If you saw the article I posted the average attendance at Jersey City games was 428!!!!
Before WWII (when he was a young teenager) my Dad worked the stands of Roosevelt Stadium selling “Peanuts, popcorn, crackerjack, scorecard!” during Jersey City Giants games.
So by this logic the blazers and timbers should be gone soon too. 2 franchises that are absolutely beloved by their residents. Baseball would crush in Portland. Not sure if the city would contribute too much, although they did just put in 3 million for the Timbers 50 million expansion of Providence Park(IMHO one of the best sporting venues in the country, an old converted baseball field with intimate sight lines).
On TV last night, One of the space shows(they are really all the same show with the same scientists, just different music) on the Science channel was discussing how objects can avoid being sucked into a black hole. One method was speed. One of the issues with Florida teams is that the people who live there are from somewhere else and are fans of their hometown teams. For the Marlins, the Yankees, Mets and Red Sox are big draws, but unless the team is winning, they don't draw. The same in Tampa, although you can add Chicago there. The population of Orlando is heavily transient. I can't see a team surviving there.
Vegas is such a different city compared to the others on the expansion list with the tourists, gamblers, and other visitors, it may be able to get away with building a domed MLB stadium and make their money back. We all figure the Raiders shouldn’t have any problems getting fans to their games this season. But who knew the NHL would be as successful there that they have been?
SLC is a larger DMA than a number of existing MLB cities and Vegas. Jazz has always been a big draw and one of the loudest arenas out there - palpable energy during many games.
What's worse is most have never been to the towns they are ripping. It's tough to travel when you never leave Mom's basement
This board definitely has a number of people who complain constantly about the same things and bash New Jersey constantly. They're what's known as toxic people, spreading their negativity to everyone around them but rarely if ever positivity. My father was like that. In life you have to get away from people like that. Unfortunately the internet has allowed toxic people to spread their negativity through social media without other people even realizing it.
In my opinion, the internet is what happened to "no comment". Everyone thinks their opinion matters and that others need to hear it. Social media just proliferated this to a point that it is unbearable. In the good old days, the internet was just for porn.
