He's 3rd, but they also just said he had to finish in 2nd to pass Rose and unless Horschel chokes on 18, DJ won't finish 2nd, as he's at -7 and Horschel is at -8. Assuming Rose also doesn't finish 2nd - and if Rose keeps dropping, Tiger can win it.
After a long, tough 5 injury-filled years without a win, what a great win by Tiger against the top 30 in the world, especially beating Rory and Rose (#1 in the world) soundly in the last round. Also was happy to see Rose win the FedEx Cup after almost choking it away today, as he truly has had a great season.
Looking back, Cali ought to be too embarrassed to ever post about Tiger again, given how wrong he's been in this thread. Early in this thread, Cali said, "A 100% healthy Tiger now won't be able to compete consistently on tour any more" and also said that "A healthy Tiger is a mid tier golfer now. He will make cuts, but not seriously contend. Certainly not over a 4 day period or season."
Tiger is obviously now way beyond a "mid-tier golfer" and he's been contending for months and now has finally broken through and won. Only thing left for Tiger to do to completely shut Cali up is to win a major.
As I said early in the thread, if he stayed healthy, he'd be very competitive and would eventually be a top 5 golfer again. Mission accomplished. I said he might win another major or two. He was quite competitive in them this year, but he wasn't playing as well as he is now. If he plays like this week in a major next year - and no reason to believe he won't - he'll win.

It really was an amazing scene, with the huge, flowing crowd on 18 reminiscent of an Open. Comeback stories are so much more emotional and heartwarming than simple domination stories. I've never rooted for Tiger before in my life, but after what he's been through (much of it his own making, but still it's been a lot), especially physically with all the surgeries, and given how much more appreciative he now is of his success, I was rooting for him the whole way.
Actually I did. Said he played well. It’s not a major though. Those are different animals.
Congrats too to Rose. $10MM is a nice haul. Can’t imagine how he’d feel if we he didn’t win. Probably like DeChambeau is feeling now.

Dude. you are an idiot. 4 legs of the tour championship. Top 125 were at Ridgewood. Field cut to Top 100 at TPC Boston. Field cut to Top 75 at Aronimink GC. Field cut to Top 30 in the world at East Lake. This is the Super Bowl of Golf. This is as big as the 4 majors. Tiger is back and he will win a major next year.

Anyway, are you still up for the Tiger-major bet? I would be if Tiger remains healthy for the next several years. Only way to guarantee that for me is to say that he has to play in at least 75% of the majors between now and when he turns 50 for the bet to be valid. That's 8 years of majors (32), so let's say he has to play in 24 of them and I'll even agree to cut it off when he's 50, so it's not some silly 25 year bet. And the money goes to RU athletics, not either one of us, since I have little confidence you'd pay me off. I think $200 was your standard bet, which works for me.

A slew of guys don't win majors every year. That's inaccurate. There are only 4 and one guy this year one two.
Don't be fooled. He had 2 Top 15's, made the team, and as a commentator said Friday, lost focus. Even then he finished strong 2 weeks ago.
Phil is a very important member of the team. Along with Tiger they're almost as important in the team room as they are on the course. As I said in the Ryder Cup thread, Phil is the guy who willingly gets teamed with rookies...Fowler, Kim, Bradley, Kisner at the President's Cup to mention a few. If he can split his matches he will justify being picked. Playing in France the experience factor dealing with hostile crowds is huge.
Phil needs to pick it up. You got a sense when he was out of it he was working on things for this weekend.

He finished as the 13th player in the world and 8th in top ten finishes and everyone above him played in more tournaments. Cali is Cali and not worth the time to argue, but I'm surprised to see another poster actually trying to pretend he's just another golfer at this point. Justin Rose doesn't get a lucky bounce on 18 and Tiger also wins the Fedex cup. I mean come on already. It's over. He's one of the best in the world again. Just needs to stay healthy. But keep hating if it helps you sleep.
