Part of one of the most underrated groups of the 70s and 80s. Played at the Grand Ole Opry and won a Grammy for Best Country Song. Did all the variety shows like Burnett and Cher and the exploded on the charts with Bruce penned song "Fire" with lead by Anita. Anita also did lead on "Slow Hand" and "Im So Excited". Pointer Sisters were everywhere in the 80s

Sadly there is only one left now..Ruth who sang lead on "Automatic". Bonnie who left the group in the late 70s died a couple of years back. June who sang lead "Jump", "He's So Shy" and "Dare Me" died in 2005 of cancer but had a serious drug problem

Not ashamed to say Im a big fan of their journey and they deserve a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Anita will be missed.

I did not know you were a Springsteen fan. He wrote that song.

Wow, died from cancer, lost her sister June to cancer at age 52, lost her daughter Jada to cancer at 37. Tragic.

One of their brothers was an NFL official. I remember John Madden pointing that all the time whenever they were on the same game.

Father was a minister and the gals learned to sing in church - like most R&B singers of their day.
Pops told them rock and blues were "devils music"

their chart history is massive.....13 top 20 songs over a 12 year period. Soundtrack of our lives. Only the Supremes may top them in girl group lore.

What's funny is that song hit #9 in late 1984 upon re-release: it actually hit the charts at #30 for its original release in 1982.
