OT Alien sighting

I do think quite a few would accept this but how many would question our governments ability to protect our airspace? We’re pretty damn territorial by nature and we spend quite a bit to protect that territory. The same people crying for the government to provide them safety and security at any cost would be the same ones crying about how worthless the military is for not having the capabilities to keep alien craft from entering our airspace.

My guess is that if the government knows about anything of the sort then they keep it a secret because they don’t want people pointing the finger at them for something they have no control over.

In the late 1950's an optimistic NASA believed they would be on Mars by the 1980's and the moons of Jupiter shortly after that. So NASA requested that the Battelle Institute, a major think tank, do a study covering what would happen to civilization if NASA discovered signs of a superior alien civilization as man moved out from Earth. The Battelle Institute came back and said that such a discovery would be a disaster. There would be millions of suicides, governments, science, and religion would collapse. Millions of people would simply stop working. The final recommendation of Battelle was, in essence, for God's sake, don't tell anybody! While people tend to argue that today we are more sophisticated, based on everything from Close Encounters of the Third Kind to Star Wars to ALF, and that such a revelation would not cause chaos, there have been smaller studies since the Battelle study that came to the exact same conclusion as the original study.

That and also knowledge is power. The more the government knows and keeps from the public is power to them. I do believe there is extraterrestrial life and that there has been interaction with the government for a long time. I do believe within the next 15 years the truth will slowly start to come out to the public.

I know of the Fermi Paradox. It is a compelling argument. The problem with it is that there is abundant evidence that ET has visited Earth. The evidence just isn't taken seriously by the scientific community. The UFO epidemic is one thing. I suggest looking into the ancient alien theory. I know it is ridiculed, but there are some pretty compelling observations and arguments to be had with it. It certainly isn't anymore crazy than religion and can actually tie many religions and ancient cultures together.

I believe the thinking is that the smart ones are the ones capable of visiting here while the dumb ones are not.

Of course, its been pointed out that the number of planets in the universe is comparable to the number of grains of sand on our shores.

Thinking that there are super-advanced aliens that are capable of this kind of travel that continually visit Earth (when they have the capability of visiting any one of the grains of sand on the seashore) is a bit like the old theory that the sun and stars revolve around the Earth.

The problem with science is that it is always evolving and much of it is based on ideas that were created 100 or more years ago. Einstein created the theory of relativity based on the ideas that time, matter, energy, and the speed of light are constant but none of those things are provable or even probable and that was just an extension of Newton's theory of gravity that came about 400 years ago.
For us, we measure time based on revolutions of the earth, and revolutions around the sun. Yeah, we break it down to infintesably small amounts but it is still based on what we can observe and that observation comes solely from the sun. It's possible that other stars emit light that moves faster or slower than our own That in and of itself means that we don't know if time a constant, and if time isn't a constant then we can't actually measure the speed of light which is the entire premise used in studying the universe. Energy is only measurable based on what we can observe on Earth, but there are so many variables that come into account that there is no possible way that it can be measured on a universal scale. Mass is based on size, density, and weight but black holes prove that to be less than static at the least.

The truth is, we know nothing outside of what we can observe based on our own tiny part of the universe.

I find it a bit funny you say there is only science, to back up your argument that we are alone. When looking at science, the odds suggest that us being alone is very very small. Our science hasn't even been able to prove indefinitely that there has never been life in our own solar system. So is sure has hell hasn't come close to saying there is none in the universe.

Science has told us almost nothing about Venus and thats our twin planet. To suggest that we know much of anything about planets or moons that are hundreds to millions of times further away is silly.

Let's assume that the speed of light is constant. If there is a planet that's 100 million light years away and a civilization began on that planet 99 million light years ago, we are still 1 million light years away from even being able to see the beginning of that civilization.

What people like this usually mean is I believe in science that supports my biases. They conveniently ignore facts like the hundreds of scientists that were involved in the GEPAN study in France that reached the conclusion that true UFO sightings represented the manifestation of the actions of a non-human intelligence. And that while they couldn't reach a definitive conclusion as to the source of the non-human intelligence, the evidence strongly suggested aliens, as in from outer space.

Another example is the hundreds of primatologists and physical anthropologists that accept that the creature known as bigfoot exists, based upon their studies of the evidence. While our boy here probably relies on the couple of "scientists" who can't be bothered to look at the evidence and so rule by proclamation that "bigfoot" doesn't exist.

Just given the indefinite extents of the universe, there is a high probability (almost certain) that there is life out there, somewhere. Whether it is intelligent is another matter.

That said, the probabilit6y that we will ever make physical contact with such life is slim to none. The distance is just too great.

If grains of sand represent planets. It would be the equivalent of someone placing a single grain of purple sand anywhere in the world. Assuming each human on earth represents every planet that has intelligent life. Could anyone actually find that 1 grain of sand? Possible yes, but seems almost impossible.
Now we could assume that advanced civilization has technology far beyond ours. So maybe they have technology that allows very quick travel from one galaxy to the next. Maybe even has a way to scan for other intelligent life which would make the process a bit easier. if they have found us. They obviously are doing their best to make sure we don't know about it. If that is the case there is probably good reason for it.
