One of my favorite all time comedy shows . Can't forget how the Heckowi Indians got their tribal name. Anyone recall?

Best known as Cpl Agarn on a personal favorite of mine, the 60's spoof of Western's, "F Troop". He also appeared in 25 movies along with Broadway plays, numerous appearances in other TV shows, and as a standup comic.

He also served in the Pacific during WWII where he met and became friends with Tony Curtis. When Curtis became big he brought his old Navy friend to Hollywood and put him in some of his movies.

I saw him in an off Broadway comedy, Breaking Legs, many years ago which was actually hilarious.

Every year he'd make a trip from NYC to Wild West City in Sussex County which he called his favorite place. He'd sign autographs and pose for pictures. He did it all the way up to last July at age 98. That and his character in F Troop being from Passaic were his connections to NJ.

My Dad would see him once a year when Larry was emcee of the annual IBEW Local 3 dinner. Larry spent many years as a stand up and my dad said he was really funny.

As a kid, I thought the character's name in F-Troop was Agar, not Agarn, lol. Great character actor.

Great show and remember him in other spots growing up. Didn’t he have a monkey role or a role with a monkey where he also acted like a Monkey? I may have dreamt that….

Found it. That was an I Dream of Jeannie episode and he was classic in it.

NY Times

Larry Storch, Comic Actor Best Known for ‘F Troop,’ Dies at 99

In 2016 he was honored by Passaic, N.J., the city the fictitious Corporal Agarn called home. Mayor Alex Blanco said at the ceremony that Passaic had been mentioned all over the world because of “F Troop”; Mr. Storch said that he had never been there before, but that he had chosen Passaic for his character’s hometown because “it sounded tough.”
