My daughter is a BU grad and the joke in Boston is that BC is the school for the kids who can't get into BU.

I am pretty sure that when the AFL started the Patriots played in Boston for a while and played at Boston University’s stadium. Eventually they moved to Foxboro, in between Providence and Boston. At some point, Boston University dropped football.
