Ok. But it is North Carolina, where you will find a church and a pawn shop on every corner. Have not kept up with their gun laws.
Some recent changes have gone into effect this year in NC. Pistol purchases are now no permit required. Perp may have “benefitted” from this relaxation of “burdensome” regulation.

Depends on the state.
Several states have laws against certain people that shouldn’t possess firearms, but, unfortunately, the laws are expected to be self enforced. There’s no permit process required.

I’m pro gun, but I’m also pro background check for everyone, which is basically a permit process that generally takes about a week (these days at least). I’d want to see it become a requirement for all gun sales, including private sales or private transfers (e.g. inheritance), and I wish all 50 states adhered to that policy.

Of course.

And Jacksonville right after FL laws were relaxed. The shooter was previously detained for mental problems.

Meanwhile NJ is #47 in gun violence. Wonder why...
