Judge is an easy guy to root for. When he's healthy you have a guy who averages out to be a 40-50hr guy, in your line-up. Even if its only for 115 games a year, he has value. What will be interesting is the kind of money he's looking for. Might be happy with 6 years at $100 million. Whose going to give him more?
He is a great player but as much value as he brings in shortened seasons, he can’t get paid like a top player.

As you say, he can't finish a season. No one is giving him 8 years, $250 million. I mean, if you can't stay healthy in your 20's, forget about it in your 30's. But he's worth something. I would think he's worth more to the Yankees due to his popularity than he is to anyone else and staying in NY probably means more endorsement money for him. I have no idea how it plays out. But it will be interesting to see where he ultimately ends up and for how much.

Is this thread open for any "overrated" player discussion?

If so, is this the year that the Angels finally get some sort of return on their $426.5m investment and actually make the playoffs?
Or is it another 4th place finish but they win another "MVP" award?

This should take the heat off Judge.
I mean, at least he doesn't have only 1 career postseason hit.
That would be really bad.

Would a real job consist of training from the age of 9 y/o? Missing fun time with friends and family during your teenage years. Multiple injuries along the way- make yourself better at what you do that 99.9 % of the population? Leave your friends, family, loved ones, kids etc for months at a time? Have every moment of your job on replay? Every single day at "work" could be your last? And even when you are at the top, you still must train and practice and watch film until late hours of the night?

It is a job. And a job that we all think we would love to have. But guess what- most of us never get that job because we are not willing to give up what they gave up to get there.

It is not the "GAME" we played in the back yard.

Yes, they did reach their dream but no one gave it to them. And if their work/game or what ever you want to call it entertains millions of people and generates billions of dollars and almost no one else can do it...well- the money or playing little league baseball has nothing to do with the grind these guys go through.

It isn't for us to feel bad for their millions- that IS the tradeoff but when people act like they are "lucky" to play a game - that is just a stupid thought.
Curious- does a kid in A ball making $1500 a month put their body through more than the guy in the majors making 10 million?
Point is- the money they make has nothing to do with the conversation of wear and tear.

Where it does come into play and would be fair to bring up is a club that is trying to protect it's investment.
I would take his job in a nano second.

You gotta be kidding me. The Angels not getting to the playoffs has nothing to do with Trout it’s the team they put around him.

Would you have survived 3-5 years at 1500 or so a month in the minors?
You and others just make statements like this as if it was just given to professional athletes.

and let’s assume you love whatever you do. Are you in the top 1% of people in the world that are doing it?
I would take my CEO’s job in a second too.

Please define "hasn't earned a damn thing yet"?

FYI - the guy who liked your post called him "the most overrated player in MLB" and "extremely overrated". Gotta love it when fans of other teams come to troll. The guy has had injuries, but he's pretty damn good.......selective at the plate, hits to all fields, good average, very good OBP and Slugging pct, rifle for an arm, hustles, good-very good defense, appears to be a team leader, says and does the right thing when handling the media......and yes, he strikes out a lot.

To call him any form of overrated is just plain silly and is either coming from a hater or someone who just doesn't get it. Injuries happen to most players, and have nothing to do with being overrated.
That is why I put Yes on my ignore list. Most time talked about baseball without bias but 20% of the time he is just a Mets fan trolling the Yankees thread. Mets fans are the worst

His 1500 a month in minors was after a 1.8 million dollar signing bonus. So tough.

Maybe go back through the thread and even the Yankee thread. I have said over and over- guy is Uber talented and I would enjoy and love to see him play 140+ games. He is actually one of my favorite players.
But he is always injured. Playing 65% of games is not a good thing for the Yankees though.
how is that trolling? I have said nothing bad about the player and his skills.

An unequivocal yes. Maybe I wouldn’t have taken a nano-second. Possibly take a whole second.

offering my opinion isn’t being a tool. I’d never call someone I don’t know a tool..but Making up false facts that he won AL player of the week “recently” isn’t a great look

What really isn't a great look is being in "sports media" and only being able to give an opinion on "what you see first hand" while covering baseball which is perhaps the sport most rooted in it's historical figures, stats and data. This deserves one of the biggest LOL's.

What also isn't a great look look is taking shots at a player based on 2 games and 7 AB's over the course of a full 162 game season with over 500 AB's and perhaps 600 plate appearances. You seem to have some type of hard on for Judge. Really uncalled for comments regarding him being the most overrated player in MLB etc. Do you really know anything about baseball at all - or are you just having a nice imaginary play? Did you play at all? I can guarantee that I would work circles around you in my understanding of the sport. Perhaps stick to what you know best...."Hype"

yes. I’m not gonna give an opinion on something I don’t see first hand. Data doesn’t tell the whole story.

Considering I work in media..sports media .................

7 straight Ks for Judge. Lol

Angels have a money tree in the back so the money they pay Trout doesn't matter. The Angels not getting to the playoffs is about Trout if he isn't helping get wins to the extent that his salary dictates he should.

Cole pitched yesterday and he might not have pitched for the Angels because of Trout.
