Figured I'd briefly pass along my experience for any of those looking for first hand accounts.

- 1st vaccine on 1/14. No real issues noticed other than some joint pain (but I'm also mid 30s and havent been as active due to COVID)

- 2nd vaccine on 2/4. Got it at 11:30AM and hit the road for Gatlinburg at 12:30PM.
- No issues until some mild chills in the middle of the night
- Next day I had more chills and body aches. Took tylenol and never had a fever. I did develop stomach issues for about 12 hours.
- All symptoms mostly resolved themselves by late evening on the second day (2/5)
- No issues since!

That first dose I received has given me horrible farts. I promise it's because of the first dose**

I got the Moderna 2nd dose yesterday.

Absolutely no side effects the first dose, but I feel like I’m hungover & Mike Tyson punched my arm today. First time I have ever had any side effects to a vaccine & I have had more than the average person due to my work.

I had zero issues with the first Pfizer shot. I get the second one at the end of the month. My sister in law got her second at work a couple of weeks ago and she said she just felt exhausted the next day like after you’ve been sick.

A friend of mine got his second shot yesterday. He played golf today but shouldn't have - said his arm wasn't sore but he felt really weak, and I think he may have had a little fever because he seemed chilled the entire round (but it was quite cool and cloudy most of the time). All in all, not terrible side effects. He's in his 70s. Got the Pfizer version.

I got my 2nd Moderna on Saturday around noon. Started chills by around 10 that night. Went back and forth between chills and pouring sweat all night. On Sunday morning I felt like I had been run over by a truck and only got out of bed for an hour or so. Monday morning came and I felt like it had never happened. Crazy.

I’m otherwise healthy early 40s.

had first moderna two weeks ago...

from what i am being told by multiple people, get the 2nd vaccination in the opposite arm as the first....

i havent had 2nd yet, but that is what i am going to do.....first dose i had minor chills, but i was fatigued for 48 hours....felt like i had bricks tied to my eyelids....that and like someone mentioned below, like tyson punched me in the arm...

just about anyone can sign up for vaccine in MS....they don't ask questions....only thing they ask is if you have an appointment...

If you want a shot in Mississippi - qualifying is as easy as clicking a button to confirm you have some kind of pre-existing condition, whether you actually do or not.

Not that I'm recommending that... I personally won't sign up for one until I'm officially allowed to. But currently anyone in MS can get scheduled for one (while supplies last).

As I understand the issue, the first vaccine starts your body producing antibodies. The second vaccine starts those antibodies protecting your system. Hence the reaction to #2.

Had my 2nd Pfizer dose 27 hours ago. Gotta admit I was a little worried...heard some first hand not great stories.
my Experience so far...

Arm was very much less sore after this second shot initially. I did notice it in the middle of the night when I rolled over onto it.
today, 24+ hrs later, I have felt tired, not great, but not awful at all. A few very mild chills. Feel like I’m on the home stretch...but some people report major effects take 48hrs, but I’m feeling ok.
From anecdotal personal evidence, just like the virus itself, there is no,rhyme or reason when/how this will effect anyone. So I could feel much worse tomorrow but pretty positive right now.

Had my 2nd Moderna vaccine last week. My body reacted noticeably different... Aches/minor chills/ fatigue and very sore arm. No temp no headache. Lasted from about 12 to 36 hours. My wife had a bad headache and low temp to go along with it. Glad it’s over.

I get my 2nd one Friday. Hope mine is no worse than what you experienced. I only had a sore arm the 2nd day after the 1st shot.

Got our second Pfizer shot Friday morning. Both of us good with not even any arm soreness until Sunday morn. At approximately 44 hrs after the shot I started getting a headache and chills with no fever and by Sunday night I was feeling pretty bad, even wondering if I had the virus itself(still no fever). I reluctantly started hitting the Advil and took about 8 or 10 over the next 24 hrs (until Monday night). Started feeling better and by Tuesday morning back to about normal. So approx 48 hrs before the sides started and they lasted approx 30 hrs . They were uncomfortable but not debilitating by any means BUT they were bad enough to fear that I had the virus with no way to even get out my damn iced over driveway to go get tested. My take: the sides from the vaccine are about as unpredictable as the sides from the virus.

Are you guys over 65? I figured quite a few of you for under 40. Some of you under 20.

Just wondering how you've gotten your shots so early.

I'm glad that you did and I hope you are all safe, but I am not quite 60 and still waiting to sign up for mine. Hoping to get the J&J one dose.

Obesity is a pre-existing condition and 40% of Mississippi adults are obese. 75% of Sixpackspeak posters are.

While we were sitting in line we were noticing who was around us in their cars. First, we were in Neshoba county but saw no Neshoba county tags. Secondly, as far as people I would say that no more than half appeared to be over 65. ( LOL or maybe the other 65+'s just looked a hell of a lot younger than us. )

There is (was?) also a catch-all criterion in addition to the named pre-existing conditions that allows for any other condition for which your doctor recommends you get the vaccine.

And it's based on BMI. Depending on your height, you might be surprised where your BMI falls in relation to what's considered "obese" if you've never calculated it before.

But this doesn’t yet mean that Sixpackspeak is a pre-existing condition. **

Then again, I got my second Pfizer shot a week ago so it could very well be. **

I've got a wifi scale that supposedly tells you your percentage of body fat, BMI, percent water, as well as weight. I have no idea how accurate they are (other than the weight, which is right on).

In Alabama, it's been 65-74 since Feb 8 (plus some others). We applied on Jan 30, the first sign-up day and got the appointment call this morning. Going in for the first shot next Tuesday, then the second on March 16. It'll be the Pfizer.

I read that Alabama was handling the vaccine the worst of the 50 states, and Georgia was next.

Not as bad as the first one. Sore arm for almost three days. Flu like symptons the next afternoon. Took ibuprofen at first then switch to tylenol. Run two miles the third day but light arm exercise before that...nothing to it
