Giants take Dart. Pick has Mara written all over it….Ole Miss QB (Eli’s alma mater).

I dunno….are we certain Dart wouldn’t have still been on the board for the Giants’ 2nd round pick? Not a terrible trade up to get what you really want, but is Dart that? I guess we’ll see.
Honestly, you need to take a swing at a QB, but Dart had one of those QB sessions with Gurden and he sounded like a moron. Total meathead.

It basically cost them two third picks, one this year and one next, to swap places.

Atlanta got two very nice defensive players - Walker and Pearce. That's a great night for them!

Don't think Dart is that guy, but you know who does? Ex Giant's coach Joe Judge

From an article this morning, https://www.si.com/nfl/nfl-draft-2025-latest-first-round-intel-albert-breer
I think the New York Giants will take a quarterback … either Thursday or Friday.

I don’t think it’ll be with the third pick. And I think there are relationships, and work done, that have nothing to do with Shedeur Sanders that shouldn’t be ignored here.

My understanding is Giants coach Brian Daboll has spent a lot of time talking with, and getting to know, Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart in the weeks leading up to the draft (he’s done the same with Sanders). There are no two people you’ll find who are higher on Dart than Rebels assistant coaches Charlie Weis Jr. and Joe Judge. Weis’s father, Charlie Sr., is one of Daboll’s coaching mentors. Meanwhile, Judge, who was Daboll’s predecessor in New York, was also his Patriots staffmate from 2013 to ’16.

I can’t say for sure what Daboll thinks of Dart. But I can say with a good degree of confidence that what he’s getting from Oxford on Ole Miss’s three-year starting quarterback—who was good enough to prompt Lane Kiffin to bake West Coast–based NFL concepts into the Baylor-type spread offense he’s built for the SEC—is glowing. And those things matter with a decision this big.

Cleveland needs a QB still and they pick before Giants in Round 2 so the price is worth removing the risk. Plus, look at how little they gave up compared to Atlanta who traded up for the pick after. Round 1 next year, Giants keep 2026 R1 and R2. We'll see how it works out, hopefully Daboll can develop him like he did Allen.

Very fair. The haul Atlanta gave up compared to the Giants is a really good point. And you’re right that Cleveland is a threat for QB in early 2nd round.

How exciting is that lol.

I would rather have had SUs' McCord - #1 for CFB QB stats and he was good player under pressure

Eagles move up one to pick up Bama LB, Jihaad Cambell from Timber Creek HS. Think he might get some edge snaps as well.

KC needs some OL help.
But surprised nobody traded up for that last 1st round pick to get a QB with a 5th year option.

McCord also has the Ohio State pedigree and he turned 'Cuse around. I guess I am saying I wouldn't be surprised if he is a great value pick later.

Anyone have a guess for Kyle Monangai? I looked at a page showing various mock draft results and it was anywhere from Round 2 to Round 7 or so with 6 being the most common, IIRC. Hope he gets an ideal situation with a winner. Heck.. Jets going OL again maybe an RB could do worse.

Already a trade! Jacksonville going to the #2 spot. Don't understand them giving up their #1 in 2026 to move up 3 positions. Hmm.....
Hmmmm indeed. Perhaps it is salary related. That is, Jacksonville has had a lot of high picks in recent years.. with high contracts I assume. Maybe they figure they cannot afford another 1st round next year are really really really wanted Hunter. He's a tow-way player.. maybe they figure they are getting 2 first round picks by getting him.

McCord's father (Derek) also played at Rutgers from 1988 to 1992.[

Don't have a dog in this fight, but Sanders passed over again for another QB:

Passed over for a QB that was hurt for three years - its been obvious the fix has been in.

"Shough started his college career at Oregon, where he backed up Justin Herbert. He missed significant time with injuries in his three seasons at Texas Tech and had his best season in 2024"

via Grok:

First Round (32 Picks) by Conference:

• SEC: 15 picks

• Big Ten: 11 picks

• ACC: 2 picks

• Big 12: 2 picks

• Mountain West: 1 pick

• FCS/Other: 1 pick

The SEC and Big Ten combined for 26 of the 32 first-round picks, tying the SEC’s 2020 record for the most first-round selections by a single conference in the modern draft era. This reflects the talent acquisition dominance of these two conferences in college football.

First Three Rounds (102 Picks) by Conference:

• SEC: 37 picks

• Big Ten: 29 picks

• Big 12: 13 picks

• ACC: 11 picks

• FBS Independents, MAC, AAC: 2 picks each

• Mountain West, Missouri Valley (FCS), Sun Belt, Pac-12, CAA, CUSA: 1 pick each

The SEC led all conferences with 37 picks through the first three rounds, followed closely by the Big Ten with 29. Together, these two conferences accounted for 65% of all picks in the first three rounds, underscoring their depth of NFL-caliber talent.

Additional Insights:

• First 17 Picks: In the first half of the first round, the SEC had 8 picks, the Big Ten 5, the Big 12 2, the ACC 1, and the Mountain West 1. This early dominance by the SEC and Big Ten set the tone for the draft.

• First 50 Picks: Across the first 50 picks (spanning rounds 1 and part of 2), the SEC had 21 picks, the Big Ten 18, the ACC 5, the Big 12 4, and both the FCS and Mountain West had 1 each.

• Notable Performances:

• The SEC’s 15 first-round picks included players from schools like Ole Miss, LSU, and Georgia, with standout prospects like defensive tackle Walter Nolen (Ole Miss, picked by Arizona at No. 16).

• The Big Ten’s 11 first-rounders were led by Ohio State, which had four players selected, including offensive linemen Donovan Jackson and Josh Simmons, fresh off a College Football Playoff National Championship.

• The ACC’s highlight was Miami’s Cam Ward, selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans, giving the conference bragging rights for the top pick.

• The Mountain West’s lone first-rounder was Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, a notable achievement for a non-power conference.

• Total Draft Picks (257): While exact numbers for all seven rounds by conference are not fully detailed in the provided data, the trend suggests the SEC and Big Ten likely maintained their lead, given their 65% share through three rounds. Smaller conferences like the MAC, AAC, and FCS contributed sparingly, with only a handful of picks each.

Lmao. Parsons has 52.5 sacks in his first 4 years. One cannot blame the Cowboys sucking on him.
As a Penn State fan, I’ve seen a lot of both of them. I don’t think Carter is at the level of Parsons at the same point in their careers. Parsons only played 2 years in college, 26 games. Carter played in 42 in 3 years.

To me though, the thing that stands out is that Parsons essentially quit PSU to prep for the NFL prior to the COVID season BS. He had the chance to come back after the season was back on and chose to sit. Carter played with one arm against ND in the Orange Bowl when he didn’t even have to suit up.

I get it, very different circumstances that will not ultimately determine their NFL success, but I have a ton of respect for Carter being out there.

I like the Giants trading up to get Dart. Let him learn the ropes from the bench for a year or two. G-Men suddenly seem to have improved quite a bit. A playmaking defensive end in the Parsons/LT mode and some actual depth at QB.

I also like the Jets’ pick.
