OT: 2021 Baseball HOF Ballot Released.

Eli, in epic fashion, won 2 SB''s AND garnished 2 SB MVP trophies. That, my friend, is "fame" whether anyone likes it or not. Eli is in. Schilling, meh, douche (yet stunning how much better he's done than Cone, for example, with balloting thus far).

Something many people don't seem to notice. The list of players who have won multiple Superbowl MVP's consists of: Bart Starr (2), Terry Bradshaw (2), Joe Montana (3), Eli Manning (2) and Tom Brady (4). That's it. Five guys, 3 already in, and Brady the first ballot shoo-in is the guy Eli beat twice.

My other favorite who I think belongs is Fred McGriff.

Numbers compared to others who are in.

Crime Dog is as good or better then both of these guys. His problem was that he played clean during the steroid era which made his numbers look less by comparison. during his time. Ironically I think he and McGwire are the only players to lead both leagues in HRs during their careers. McGriff with Toronto and San Diego and McGwire with Oakland and St. Louis. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that.
10 years on the ballot and was consistently in the teens and twenties of voting percentage. Ridiculous.

I think like Cepeda he ends up getting in via the Veterans Committee at some point.

Here is the list of all time WAR leaders. I'm not sure of what it means but any criteria that lists Phil Niekro as the 35th best player in the history of baseball makes me wonder.
Phil was a fine pitcher but to say that he ranks 31 slots ahead of Joe Dimaggio, 44 ahead of Johnny Bench and 80 spots in front of Jim Palmer makes me question the validity of this stat.
WAR rankings also have Reggie Smith ahead of Dave Winfield, Willie McCovey and Billy Williams. I guess I just don't understand what it means.

No. Agree, shouldn't even be on the ballot IMO.

I think if you played 10 years you are automatically on the ballot the first year.
