Ok Noah pitching a shutout thru 8. 93 Pitches and velocity still good. Do you send him out for the 9th with Winker leading off or bring in Diaz. I say let Noah finish but I am old school.
Bean Winker for that stunt he pulled on the bases 2 nights ago and taunting the fans in left field last night.

Put it in the books. Noah CG, 0 runs 4 hits. Mets win 1-0. I give the Reds credit, they can pitch. If they had any offense they would be really dangerous.

I thought the narrative coming into the series was that their starters outside of Castillo had been struggling?

I missed the stunt on the bases. What happened there?

Well sometimes you literally do have to do it all by yourself. And as much as I'd been on his case so far this season Syndegaard did everything but sell tickets and hotdogs today. The rest of the 8 practically took the day off

Ha! Winker just ejected for arguing balls and strikes.
Yeah what a moronic play that was. The umpire actually cut him some slack. He could have ejected him immediately, instead he gave him a warning and told him to get back in the box. Winkler didn't, and got the automatic ejection. So his replacement had to inherit his 0-2 count. Just a selfish play.

FWIW, the K-zone replay showed it was a perfect pitch, top of the strike zone, outside corner.

Loved the fans behind the dugout gleefully waving at him as he took his walk of shame. Turnabout is indeed fair play.

Critical work from Thor today - lose 3 of 4 to the Reds and I start thinking about the next sport up.

Congrats Mets fans. Hope many of you got to see this gem. Only the 7th time in history someone has pitched a complete game shutout and homered in the game's only run.

Odd, that. The Post said seventh according to MLB.com, but later on the MLB network the talking head said ninth. Either way, really rare and an amazing feat.

Mets make a surprising roster move. Call up Adeiny Hechavarria, send down Dom Smith.

I am ambivalent about this. On the one hand, Smith is still a valuable prospect (even though he's officially "graduated") and really needs to play every day. He can't on the Mets. Every game he starts is a game Alonso does not start, and Alonso needs to start them all. Plus, Hechavarria is a useful player who's been tearing it up in Syracuse.

But on the other hand... Smith was a very useful lefty pinch hitter. Now the Mets bench is exclusively right handed, which is not ideal to say the least.

I guess I like this move only if it is the prelude to another move to get a veteran lefty bench bat.

Cubs win this afternoon. Now, I am the world’s biggest Mets fan tonight. Moving on, feel bad for Dom Smith. Worked his butt off and played well, but so did Alonso and he was just better. Any chance they try again to work with him at different positions in the outfield in the minors so he can see the field in the majors?

Everyone can't be a starter. I rather have someone like Dom over some retreads like Lowrie or Hechavarria. Both of these guys are older, cost more to ride the bench, and don't bring the same offense as Dom. Plus, how many righthand batters on the bench are you going to carry?

Farm Nimmo. Pitcher on the ropes, 2-0 count and the best he can do is nub one back to the mound.
Nimmo has been struggling from the start of the season. He could use some time down in the minors. Keep Dom up and let him play a little bit of left field. Right now the Mets could use Dom's bat in the lineup.
