Nimmo up, along with Bashlor and Zamora whom we have seen before. Also utilityman Sam Haggerty, who was acquired along with Lockett in the Plawecki trade. Also Nido up from IL.

Mickey Moron’s lineup tonight is a joke. Panik batting 5th, Alonzo 2nd and why is Lagares in the lineup at all? He’s an idiot.

Doesn’t make sense with Panik at 5 but he has been hitting Alonso 2nd for a few games and Alonso had his most consistent streak of the year at number 2.
And if resting Davis, Lagares is usually the next OF in. He has hit pretty well recently too.
Only unexplainable is Panik at number 5.

Stroman looks like our new Vargas. Although he is a righty, there is almost no other difference.

There goes that bullpen again. Why do they recycle the same bums thinking the results will be different? Classic example of insanity

Lugo was not available.
With the remaining bullpen, it is like Russian roulette with 6 bullets. Who you going with, coach?

They don't recycle the same bums. The Mets have used 29 different pitchers this year. TWENTY-NINE. Anybody who can get anybody out in Syracuse gets a shot. Can't blame Mickey for that.

Now if you want to rip the team for having no MLB ready pitching depth anywhere in the organization, well that's a whole 'nother story.

You saw that Phillies starter Efflin went seven innings, giving up only one run on three hits. There was a story in yesterday's Inquirer about how Eflin had gotten tired of all the advice he was getting from the Phillies' coaching staff. They were telling him to throw his four-seam fastball more. He decided to stop listening to them and throw his two-seam as his primary pitch. Evidently that works. Says something about the incompetence of the Phillies' coaches (especially pitching coach Chris Young) that they gave him such bad advice.

BTW, a poster asked above who the Phillies have playing third. It's that guy Kingery, with the bases-clearing double .

In other news, Dilson Herrera has exercised an opt-out and has elected free agency.

Syracuse is one game out of a playoff position with one to go. They need a win and a Scranton loss tomorrow or their season is over. If it is, we will no doubt see Lowrie on Tuesday, and maybe a couple of others.

Hope that clears the way for Ruben Tejada's return!!!!

They may have used 29 players, but the same 3 or 4 players are responsible for the majority of blown game. That's my problem.

Familia had actually been pretty decent since the AS break. As have a number of their guys in the BP...
Most of their losses since the AS break have come from bad SP performances or lack of timely hitting with men on.
Oh yeah- also our manager...in what F-omg baseball universe does Panik hit 5th? If in the lineup, he hits 7th at best (if JL is playing) and 8th all other times.
Less then 30 games left and most likely no playoffs. As a Manager- no one gets a day off the rest of the way unless injured.
Slump, no slump whatever. You all get in there and play.

Skip past the one week old drivel about the chance of Callaway being Manager of the Year and read about 2 VERY QUALIFIED managers who may be available in the offseason, esp Joe Maddon.

Mickey was so bad yet again last night. Bringing in Zamora to face Harper and having Guillorme PH and bunt instead of letting JD Davis bat were all kinds of awful.

What was up with the bunt? Go for the kill especially on the road. He plays as if we have a lights out bullpen.

Hell, not putting in Davis to hit at that point was just stupid
I no longer know what to say about this guy..,
C'mon guys. Bunting in that situation is the standard "book" play which most managers would do. Get the tying run to third and go ahead to second. Play for two runs and the lead.

I think the Phillies surprised Mickey by bringing the infield in, rather than conceding the tying run . They certainly surprised me!

A case can certainly be made that given the Mets bullpen, it's better to play for the big inning than a one run lead. I could go either way on that. Either approach is justifiable and neither is just stupid.

We are playing in Philly...cant play for a tie and hope they dont score again. If it was the same situation and we are at home...I maybe lean toward the bunt but not playing in Phily.

No it's not. Bunting has pretty much gone the way of the dodo and as Big East Phil and yes mentioned we need to play for a big inning not a 1 run lead with our bullpen. It hasnt been the book play for a while now and yes it is stupid.

As much as I hate Philly, that's the problem. As lone as the Wilps sees that this is what their fans want, they will keep going on the cheap with the managers and GMs, who will keep making the I'll decisions that a Maddon, a Girardi, or a Chaim Bloom will make.
The Wilpons don't give a damn about what any fans think. So sorry I can't take responsibility for their cheap-*** machinations.

In that situation, the bunt is not playing for the tie, it is playing for the lead. You are moving the lead run into scoring position. If it were just a runner on first, I agree the bunt would be a bad play. As it is, I see both sides of the argument.

If you are playing for a one run lead and have to protect it for three or more innings, I would say bad decision. If you only have to protect it for one inning, I would say good decision. For two innings, I can go either way.

There are lots of ways to play it and bunt is a fairly safe managerial call. But, we cannot play safe at this point. Even if for no other reason, to let other teams know we are not going quietly.

Something we'll never know: if Davis had come in to pinch-hit, would the Phils just have brought in Neris then? The Phillies rneeded this game as much as the Mets did, and pulled out the stops by bringing Neris in with one out and two runners in scoring position. Would they have let Morin pitch to Davis, or just brought Neris in?

The one move I did not like was bringing in Zamora. I get going with the lefty against Harper, but was Wilson unavailable?

Anyway, new day and new game, starting right now! Nimmo in CF. McNeil 3B, Frazier bench. Rivera C. Day game after night game, I get that, but Ramos better not get used to it!

Hopefully the 7 with 17 left (or whatever it is now) will be in the Mets favor this time around. We'll see.
25 left, of which 17 are at home, albeit against tough competition.

Definitely not too late, although losing all three to the Cubs was a killer. Needed to salvage at least one of those. But we have moved on nicely, three of four on the road trip so far.

So- was there a reason to take out Noah after 90 pitches? Glad we were up by more than 3...
Yeah I'm curious about that too. Maybe Noah said he was tiring. Or maybe Regan noticed something. Or maybe theyre just trying to save him a few pitches with the (faint) hope that they'll be needing him deep into October.

I do know this though. If we're only up three, we're not seeing Bashlor.
