Suprised no discussion on this anniversary of the JFK assassination. I always wondered how LHO got out of the TSBD and on a bus, then a cab. Not much talk about his movements right after the assassination. Seems like he shot JFK, then the next moment he's in Oak Cliff shooting the cop. How did he get out of the building and immediate area without suspicion?

I was in Jr High math class. A teacher came in the classroom in tears and made the announcement. We were sent home too.
I was in 7th grade sitting in my History class. The teacher went out into the hall, came back and said that President Kennedy has been assassinated. I thought at first he was just setting up some odd kind of hypothetical. My sister reached home in tears; my brother and another sister had not heard.
Was in elementary school. Principal came class room to class room and told us. From my perspective the country was in shock
What must that ride over to Parkland have been like? What a bloody mess. Five minutes of hell on earth.
I was in second grade at Holy Rosary school in Elizabeth. The entire school was brought into the gym and we prayed the rosary and then were sent home. Walking home I just remember how quiet it was on the streets.
I always thought Jackie was trying to escape the car when she jumped out of her seat. Then I learned she was going after a part of JFK's brains blown out on back of car
This is ClintHill. He was the Secret service agent who jumped on the back of the car and grabbed Jackie. I've seen him on many shows about the assassination.

I was in 2nd grade at home faking a cold..My mom and her cousin were crying in front of the Philco. I was in my room reading comic books and eating tuna sandwiches.I didn't quite grasp the gravity of the situation.
Rutgers postponed both its football and soccer games with Columbia scheduled for the day after the November 22, 1963 Kennedy assassination. The Rutgers Glee Club and Douglas Voorhees Choir combined to form the Rutgers University Choir and was asked to come to Philadelphia and perform Brahm’s “Requiem” with the Philadelphia Orchestra that was recorded and shown to a grieving nation on CBS that weekend. The University chaplain, assisted by Protestant, Catholic and Jewish clergy, conducted memorial services for JFK Saturday afternoon in Kirkpatrick Chapel and WRSU remained on the air indefinitely. The school closed that Monday for the first time since the 1959 inauguration of Rutgers president Mason Gross.
I read something about the cops confronting him in the break room drinking a coke but since he worked there, no suspicion was raised at that moment.
Have seen many documentaries on this. Yes as mentioned above with all the chaos of the situation he simply walked out of the TSBD. He was recognized as an employee earlier and simply passed over.

I was at somerset hospital in Somerville in an interview with the administrator for grad school, when his secretary rushed into the room and said that the President had been shot. he got up from his chair, left the room, and never returned. after about 15 min.,I left and caught a bus back to RU. never heard from the guy who was interviewing me again.
I was in the 6th grade in a Catholic Grammar School in the heart of New Jersey's Irish Riviera. President Kennedy was revered in those quarters. Looking back, the nuns were just devestated; in shock. Nothing happenned for over an hour. Then they finally regained enough composure to send us home.
I was also at a Catholic grammar school. But for some reason we were off that day. My two brothers and I were playing basketball in the back yard. My mother came to the window and told us to come inside. She then told us the President had been shot. Very sad day.
After we played at Texas in 1997,I visited the Grassy Knoll and had one of my friends take a picture of me behind the fence with a curtain rod overhanging the fence.I then visited the Sixth Floor,then placed that rod in the elevator on the way out.
Then we recreated that part of the motorcade ride.When I hit the spot of the shooting,I floored it and went onto the Stemmons Freeway.I slowed down before Parkland Hospital,of course.
A few years,I bought a reprint of the Dallas Morning News' edition of 11-23-63.
In the personal and announcements section,there was a notice that read that The Carousel Club would be closed all weekend.Draw your own conclusion.
Then we recreated that part of the motorcade ride.When I hit the spot of the shooting,I floored it and went onto the Stemmons Freeway.I slowed down before Parkland Hospital,of course.

I was at lunch in NB for a Kiwanis meeting. Just graduated RU in May 1963. I was last guy to leave the hotel lunch and the bus boy came out and said thePresident was shot. I told him not to kid around. He said he was not kidding. Walked back to office on George Street and watched the TV in an appliance store window of the assainstion.
Ever check out Posner's "Case Closed?" Oswald actually ran into a Dallas cop (or some law enforcement person) on his way down the stairs, but his boss vouched for him and he went out the front door. Bumped into Robert MacNeil and directed him to a phone. Once he was past the cop, he had no worries -- until he shot the cop, which was, after all, the reason he was brought in.
No reason to draw your own conclusion. Not only was Ruby distraught over the murder and what it meant for the city, he was VERY critical of his competitors being open that weekend, even going to another strip club and asking them why they didn't close?
Plus, don't forget Ruby was always at the Morning News office, which is where he was at the time of the shooting. He had to pay for his ads for the weekend in cash -- he was not the most reputable or responsible person -- so he was there on a Thursday morning to set his ads for the weekend. One of the first things he did after the shooting was change them to say they were closed. Why wouldn't that be in the next day's paper?
Sounds logical to me. If the ad was placed the day before the shooting that would raise some eyebrows.
Made easy because the two Secret Service guys normally riding on the back of the vehicle, were inexplicably not present. They bailed prior to the President's vehicle turning onto Dealey Plaza.
It would still have been an easy shot, since you've got about 80' in elevation on the target.
Not so. They stood on the rear of the vehicle on a bumper level platform. No shot even at 80' elevation at that distance. The second hit was the shot that Oswald could not have made. No way he got off three aimed shots in six seconds with #3 being a head shot with an Italian bolt action military surplus rifle. First shot was possible.
Tenth grade history class. Seventh period. Knock on the door and the teacher went out into the Hall then came back and gave us the news. They then played news over the intercom system. Eighth (last) period was band. Our director had us go out to marching band practice after school but sent us home when he realized no one was emotionally there
It still amazes me how folks can think differently and that there was more than just Oswald. A nut got lucky and killed a president, at that time security was minimal. Sad but true.
Was in the 5th grade at a music assembly in our auditorium/cafeteria/gym. Before the assembly started our principal announced that the president had been shot. The music assembly still went on but nobody felt like singing. Later a little girl in my class ( who had been sent out to get something for the teacher) came back and just cried “Miss Mand President Kennedy is dead!” Our entire country changed forever that day.
Gov Connally's wife only died ten years ago or so and she was interviewed about what it was like in the car that day
