Use Lynum for example. From Florida. Been here 4 years. Started 1 game IIRC. He could probably go to FIU or FAU and start. Or probably go to SFU or UCF and at least play the same amount with his family at every game. And maybe we weren't willing to pay any NIL and they are. Or maybe Indiana or someone likes him and is willing to overpay him. You would honestly have a problem with that?

Just since we've been having the over signing back and forth yesterday we lost 2 players- Lynum and that commit. This isn't that big of deal.
Noone is looking to overpay Lynum. He hasn't played a whole lot and his NIL value is close to nil. A lot of those G5 teams have good players at various positions. Even if he goes to one of those schools, it is not necessarily a guarantee that he'd start. You're the one that seems to be making this a bigger deal than it is. You're the one who got your panties in a wad about using the word 'cutting' to describe the process of getting rid of a recruit who had questionable talent and was injured. If you think of a better term to call it, then let me know.

You seem to be against us encouraging guys to move on and you seem to think we can't get to 85 by August. I'm just pointing out that it isn't necessarily us "cutting" guys and it isn't necessarily bad to have contributors move on.

this level of cope is reminding me of every offseason with Frost.

until its reflected by wins, there's nothing to prove this is the case.
This isn’t blind hope.

I was in the football offices no less than 5 times with the last regime. Sat in the S&C offices or director of footballs office for HOURS each time and never once saw the head coach. Not once. Saw every other coach, assistant, admin, etc. never once saw the head man in charge. It was eye opening.

Asked once where Scott was and got an “not sure. Thought he was be in by now”. Was there another 3 hours and didn’t see him.

This new staff works their butts off. And it all starts with the head coach.

This isn’t blind faith or hope. There is work being done to build something stable.

You want more proof?

Last group had a captain that was so done with football at NU he left knowing that he would be signing an UDFA contract. He was a captain and was checked out. That same group voted and turned down a bowl game.

This group has captains who was to stay. Kids aren’t leaving to the portal unless Rhule has talked to them and given them complete honesty.

While other powerhouse teams have starters and all conference kids flocking to the portal, our “losing” team has kids that love this culture and want to be part of it.

And don’t say they wouldn’t have options. We have players that would be starters at major schools. Yet they want to stay

It’s not blind hope and faith

I'm against us encouraging guys to move on who are contributors and we don't have a replacement for, yes. If we find a solid replacement who can play right away, then so be it.

If we're going to take Ohio State's quarterback, might as well take their receiver and their running back while we're at it!

I was more excited for Sims than I am McCord but I really don't know why.

With that said, if we get McCord, that OSU WR and Prince's brother...My god

Wonder if offensive philosophy changes at all with those additions?
Probably a little bit, I would imagine. McCord is not a runner.

Plus, teams playing NU won't really have to account for the QB run game. But they will have to account for a QB completion game.

If it leads to a QB that can complete passes, it will open up the offense and running game far more than a running QB IMO. Defenses had 9-10 in the box most times. If the QB can take care of the ball it'll be another positive

I am praying our offensive line is able to keep our quarterbacks safe; If players are able to buy insurance, I wonder if 1890 can take an insurance policy on our future quarterback?

you can wax poetic all you need, but 5-7 with multiple close losses has pretty much been par for the course.

when that turns into 9/10 win seasons then i'll say you're right, but i'm thru with the "just wait til next year game". i have to see it.

The equation isn't really that simple. There's limited roster spots, and limited time/attention of coaches, limited reps in practice, etc. Someone that has ascended to the rank of "contributor" after 4 years has, presumably, reached their ceiling and also has a shelf life. If that spot goes to a much younger player with more future potential, that would make sense, even if they are not ready to contribute at the same level.

Exactly. If someone is struggling to start after 4 years than why not try someone new? Sure, they might be a dud but what do we have to lose? Not like we are winning right now with these contributors.

Has anyone watched enough of McCord to honestly assess his mobility? I watched him a few times but never in a million years thought he might be playing for NU next year so I didn't pay attention. I guess I'll have to start watching every game like a degenerate gambler and start taking notes. Lol.

He’d be the best QB we’ve had in a decade. Now, my son is a huge OSU fan and watching McCord is very frustrating. He’s be great here and knows he’s not starting at OSU. Remember Ewers tranfered or he’d never of seen the field. He was the tallest midget hence the transfer. They should have beat Mich by 10. OSU will have the most first and second round picks this year but had the worst QB in years. As loaded as they were, and his job was to not lose games, he did that and kept other teams in the game.
