Hold up.
How did people booing Dee because it looks like he's looking for a breather translate into questioning his whole damn life as a teammate and a human? There's a problem in todays society that says if you show or vocalize disapproval of someone's actions or words you must hate them. Its always taken to the 99th degree. I'm pretty sure nobody boo'd Dee because they thought he was a trouble maker in his day to day life or a bad teammate.

As far as maturing on the mat, yes that comes with time. But either youre in shape or youre not. If youre in shape, stop doing things out there that very much make it look like you arent.
My guy ... If you look at my post I was replying to a specific comment about how you don't hear good things about Dee in the room. I was saying I actually hear good things about Dee in the room.

I wasn't making a statement about the fanbase. I was replying to a specific comment.

Buying a ticket doesn’t give you a right to act a fool, and certainly doesn’t give you the right to get called out for it

DT rightfully called out the crowd himself in his presser. Good on him.
With NIL and everything that goes along with it (fundraisers, wrestling club fees, and higher ticket prices to name a few) I'm sure more than a few people feel if their money isn't being put to good use they want to let someone know about it! Not talking about Dee specifically, just the landscape of college sports in general right now.

David Taylor can say whatever he wants. A coach with his record and trajectory can lecture the fans all day, and no one is going to be offended.

Would be interesting to see Tom Brands tell his fans they aren't allowed to boo the team.

That’s fine , so then let’s cut the bullisht out about then being students and not employees and go all the way with it. And really see the results … But I’m not sure how buying a ticket has anything to do with it though. Even if it were free you still could boo the athletes and it still would be wrong. You have the right to do as you please regardless, and you still should be called out for shameful behavior.

Both Brands and Gable have booed their own wrestlers. I've done the same to my kids from the coaching corner.

If YOU don't want to boo, then don't. But these adults getting paid 6 figures can get booed for acting a fool and not trying.

I remember watching and Iowa match back when Gable was the coach and his wrestler was on bottom. The wrestler was making little effort to get up and Gable yelled out; "Stalling on bottom!". The Ref looked at Gable and he repeated it again so the Ref called the stall.

My opinion is; never boo the performer only boo the performance. I've never booed even the Sooners as they took the mat.

I mean. that's what they were booing. And i've seen/heard the video. It wasn't exactly egregious booing. Dee running off the mat after he got "kicked" was them literally booing his "performance"

Seemed like last year Dee wrestled pretty aggressively until he ran into a buzz saw style Iowa wrestler in the dual. From that point on it seemed to me that he wrestled more tentatively and sometimes “not to lose” until the closing minute of many of his matches for the rest of the season and tournaments.

At the invitational I thought he was maybe purposely wrestling a more aggressive style in the early matches. In the final though he definitely reverted to the more passive “not to lose” style.

Hopefully he gets over whatever it is that’s making him be tentative.

You aren’t the coach, and you aren’t in the room working with him every day , you ain’t putting in the work , and you haven’t done it , unless you are a world class wrestler and I don’t know about it. The arrogance of fans is amusing to me. Gable can do that, he’s not bought or paid for the right through a ticket, he earned it by putting the work with that wrestler. That’s the difference. The crowd and fans can boo but the presumption that you know that wrestler. You know their attitude, you know them is the rift. DT called it out rightly so … because he does know the situation. He talked about two highly competitive emotional wrestler on his team … I’ll take his analysis of the situation over a random fans.

Plus the utterly selfish undercurrent of booing Dee because deep down you overestimated him, he's disappointed you, and he's not entertaining you enough. Unless you are personally funding his NIL, are his parent or coach, or teammate, get over yourself.

I'll go a step further.

If you aren't solely funding or enormously funding his NIL, there's not much to say.

I was there (I was disappointed) and I've re-watched it (still disappointed.) Did Dee earn some of that? Probably. But, I'd bet it helps him moving forward...so at least some good can come from it. I'd rather the good be from defeat instead of being unwanted.

Dee has more than earned the boos.

The antics, the stalling, the complaining, the lack of effort - getting gassed??? It's shenanigans, it's beneath his talent and the work the people in the program do.

And guess what? He's getting paid. He's not some poor college kid.
Well David essentially called it bush league to boo one of our own in his presser this week regardless of what our fans think of him.

I wasn't there, I wasn't booing him, I never have and I never will boo and OSU wrestler.

He's the coach. So I get his perspective. But he's wrong.

Don't want booing? Don't charge for tickets.

Maybe this will sink in with Dee after his own fan base got on him. Doesn't seem like the staff can get 100% buy in from him so maybe this will work. People are booing because he's capable of so much more . I agree telling people who pay how they can act is a slippery slope

The two most vocal people in this thread about how we should treat our athletes and how we should handle our events are Iowa fans. If you want to boo someone for inactivity, have at it with Angelo. I promise you ... OSU fans won't care either way.

And yet... we weren't the ones booing. LOL
