Now I'm thoroughly confused on what you think is a catch. Dobbins didn't even maintain the catch for one step before the ball hit the ground jarring it loose. No way in hell was that a catch and if replay had upheld the call on the field I'd be on here bitching that wasn't a catch.

Dobbins did have possession with a foot down when he crossed the plane. He lost control as he hit the ground. That was why it was ruled incomplete. He didnt maintain control "through the ground." However, if you watch the replay, he clearly had possession of the ball when he was parallel to the ground and his foot touched. In my opinion, as soon as you possess the ball with one foot down, it's a catch. However, the current rules additional elements like "football move" or "through the ground. "

Did you watch the game? The fact that you’re trying to go the other way with this is insane.

OSU is and was the better team, without a doubt. Clemson could not handle their physicality, and it was glaringly obvious.

Trevor Lawrence is an absolute stud, any other QB and they lose.

Dobbins injury, BS targeting call, and the reversed fumble are the 3 things that had a direct impact on the game. The refs deciding 2/3 of those plays in replay is horrendous and should really be reviewed by the NCAA.
Yes, I watched the game and saw Clemson out score OSU 29-7 over the last three quarters. End of story.

You would never know OSU was supposed to have a Heisman quality DE. I saw Lawrence run right passed Young (who was upfield having
brought no pressure)

Cardale Jones said OSU was out-coached tonight and clearly that was a factor
Agreed. OSU's free safety Fuller couldn't bring Lawrence down either.

Clemson has a great X's & O's coaching staff in addition to recruiting success obviously. I would love to see Dabo Swinney on the sidelines in Dallas!

Your counter point to me saying that run happened because the refs went to video replay and made game changing decision is that the run happened?

Yikes.

If a defender doesn’t commit to hitting the waist, keeping their head up and leading with the shoulder, that defender is risking a targeting call every time. Really simple.

Defenders need to take that crap out of the game. Period.
6'6" qb moving into the hit with his legs bending lower and head moving down and forward, seeking helmet contact where the defender's path didn't vary and was at least two feet lower than the head if the QB isn't buckling and coming into the hit.

The refs made the right call as the rule is written but the rule is wrong. 15 yards for leading with the crown, OK. Kicked out of the game should be only when the defender clearly targeted the head. That didn't happen here. He was guilty of leading with the crown but not guilty of targeting the head.

Another opinion on the non fumble.

Aslo Joel Klatt thinks similar on targeting.

LSU will smoke Clemson. Mark my words.
I never speak in absolutes because who the hell knows just like I said in the expand to 8 thread..."any given saturday and that's why you play the games"

One achilles heel for OSU beyond reffing issues was the redzone in that game and look at this stat on LSU that I posted in the other thread.

Sorry, but I disagree. Think about the long term health of the defenseless offensive player. The rule is inplace because over time tackling has become EXTREMELY dangerous because players are using their helmets as weapons. Did leather helmeted players use their heads to tackle? Do rugby players use their heads to tackle? Using helmets as a weapon to tackle needs to end, whether the player intends to or not. Period.

Instead of whining about it, the defenders will have to adjust. And the penalty of ejection is there to protect the brain of the defenseless players. I can’t imagine what the game would be like if the targeting rule did not exist.

Some fans just continue to sleep on Clemson. hahahahaha!!!

I was all about Clemson beating OSU (and put $500 on Clemson -3), but LSU looks like the best team. I just don’t think Clemson will be able to do enough on D to stop LSU’s tremendous pass offense. 38-27 LSU

We will see. It’s going to be great game. Clemson has heart like no other team I have seen in a while. And they are very good on defense.

It’s these silly peeps that think LSU is going to hammer Clemson. No one has hammered Clemson in the last bunch of years.

That’s true but no one has hammered Alabama until recently too...I hope that doesn’t happen cause I want a good game but does anyone see it coming for program like that.... it just happens.

As well as to protect the brains of the tacklers. This is a case where the deterrent effect of the very harsh penalty - ejection from the game - is truly for their own good.
