Don't disagree with the spread and not sure if you really bet on the games but I know a lot of fans do. With that, I can never understand betting against your team just to make a couple of bucks. Seems like a lose lose situation to me.

Not enough money to be won to balance out losing and if we are losing by 30, I can't any way in the world that I would want to hope the opponent scores again on us.
Same with some guys betting the under on total wins for the year, just doesn't makes sense as a fan...

Vegas is pretty spot on with spreads 90% of the time. But I hate to say that 35 points is not enough... pray that a miracle occurs and I’m wrong!

Somewhere deep in my gut I acknowledge that beating the spread is like climbing Mt. Everest, but the irrational, RU-loving fan in me suppresses that deep gut feeling. Watching the offense on Saturday and McNulty's presser yesterday gives me added doses of confidence. A bit worried about injuries already and hope our secondary stays healthy.
I don't begrudge those that buy into the spread.
However, after seeing Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State this past weekend, if first games are any indication of team performance for the season, maybe RU has a chance of surprising or at least scaring one of them. Before anyone jumps all over me, I did not say we would actually beat any or all of them. We will know more after the Kansas and Buffalo games.

In situations like this, I believe that what we are really hoping for is doing well under tough conditions. Winning this game is pretty much considered impossible according to odds makers. Other than the rare miracle, they are probably correct. But, that still doesn't mean we can't hope for that miracle!

However, if we do lose I think we all want to feel that our team gave them all they could and use the day as a stepping stone to the rest of the schedule.
One thing for sure, is that after Saturday the next four or five weeks should look a lot easier.

Penn State was 24 point favorite over App. State.
Michigan State was 23 point favorite over Utah State

Would be nice to be in a dog fight this season with one of the B1G East powers.

That is when you know that things are starting to come together for the program. You always hear that there are no such things as moral victories, I disagree. Any of us who have played sports know what it feels like to just win a game that you were supposed to win easily. You beat yourself up for not playing better BUT you also have new found respect for the other guy.

I don't often bet on much, unless it's just a fun bet.

But I view betting very differently than you appear to do. I would think the general rule should be to always bet against your heart. That way, you win no matter what happens.

Rutgers has never lost by less than 55 points to OSU, so that is an improvement :grimace: and easy money :weary:

It's just business, nothing personal. And why I never, ever could bet on a game involving Rutgers. I'm already happy if they win, so the money doesn't matter, but I'd be twice as angry about it if we lost and I lost, which would make me more frustrated with the program when things aren't going well. Who needs that?

I have chastised people in the past for betting against Rutgers. Not that it was a bad bet -- betting against Rutgers is hardly a poor economic choice -- but I couldn't understand why you would want to profit from your own team's misery. Be a good American and bet against Penn State or Notre Dame.

If I were a betting man ,I too would lay the points.IMO our D is not there yet to keep this from happening. The only thing that could change things is if our O starts to play to their potential and score a bunch. Hopefully this could occur.

My buds who bet on this stuff appreciated RU beating the spread vs.Texas.
However, this Saturday they're expecting to clean up by taking Ohio State and laying the points.
As one put it, Rutgers won't score and OSU should have the spread covered by halftime.
Another one opined that we should just be happy if Sitkowski doesn't get hurt in the game.

I'll be placing my bets at the Meadowlands so it's a moot point, but 35 is just too close. Weather or a couple of missed tackles by OSU and RU covers.

But after driving down to the Meadowlands last Friday THANK YOU APP STATE!!!

The fact that most think (including me) that 35 is to small of a number makes me scratch my head and say maybe the gap really isn't as much as we think.

OSU 47 RU 12 is the predicted score using O/U and spread.

47-12 really isn't close though.

Being middle-aged, as I am, I'm pretty sure that kind of lifestyle would mean I'd have to post from beyond the grave. :)
