I agree. I was mad at end of season but since he didn't get let go right away. I'd say one last shot. I think covid screwed his coaching up and made him lazy. He couldn't do as much so he got used to it.
Problems way before the covid crutch was brandished...

Well it says "if he returns to UK". Do you know what a barely drafted g league salary is?
Where did you get a figure of 10X? That's all I'm asking...although I know the answer to that.

And again, he will make some percentage of that NIL in endorsements even if he leaves. It probably won't be all of it, but it will me more than none. He's very well loved and many will want to help out his family.

And he might not be in the G-League.

I’m thrilled Oscar is coming back. However, Cal lost to St Peter’s in the first round this season with him on the roster. You’re the one coming across as miserable. The last two seasons are legitimate reasons for people to have questions about Cal.
Absolutely...

I've seen too many other teams post 2010 pose to mid-major teams. 2017 should've went to final four 2020 TBA. 2021 was awful everyone can admit that.

Collins and Toppins should be/better be better. Wheeler has a year here under his belt now. Cason Wallace is at least as good as TyTy, probably better, definitely tougher, and guessing he won't be as injury prone. Fredrick is a far better shooter than Grady. And I can't imagine Livingston won't contribute more than Hopkins as a frosh. Add 2-3 transfers and I think we will definitely have better pieces around Oscar.

IF we can get Oscar back, next year will be a great year after all is said and done. Just like this year was a great year with a bad ending.

Only you would consider this a great year.Didn't win regular Sec or sec tourney, lost twice to UT.First round humiliation.Cal has really lowered the standard.

the last 2 seasons have definitely shown that ccc leaves a lot to be desired with his coaching ability.
since he is all about the NBA, maybe he needs to watch some games
watch how they set & use screens
see that they even play a defense called zone

Unless they go get a go to scorer or reclass I agree
Leonard Miller and Rob Dillingham are the only difference makers we have been linked to so I think it’s unlikely. Broome would be a good piece as well as Shannon. Long way to go and we will make some moves just home they are good enough.

I'm sorry I'm not like your anti cal cult. I'm not abkut everything negative. I hear the what has he done in 7 years. 2017 was 5 years ago. 2020 we had a good season 3 years ago. Yeah no final fours or championships. The ncaa is a crap shot. I just won't keep being negative for attention like Brittany Spears, coming from a tubby fan. Tubby had no final fours past his first one.
Yet had a better last 5 years

Getting Oscar back is good news, won't deny that at all. We hardly get any good players to stay, let alone player of the years.

That said, some of y'all acting like this will save Cal lol he had Oscar last year and we lost to a 15 seed. REALISTICALLY, we need Sharpe and Big O back to field a title contending team. Without both of them, it will be a year like this one, probably worse.
I don't understand the logic in this argument. Many are saying, "Great, we get Oscar back, but we lost to a 15-seed with him." If we ran it back with the exact same team, this year's CATS win 9/10 times (if not more) against a 15-seed. That's the beauty/pain of the tournament. We were a top-5 team and at times looked like the best team in the country. Still means you have to execute in March, of course. But how often does the best team win in the tournament? So we'll run it back with a similar team to last season (with Oscar as the cornerstone of the team), and could very well have much more successful results. Bottom line... We still had a contending team in 21-22, and an upset in a win-or-go-home tournament doesn't change that.

You’re the expert you tell us. Btw You still denying you told me Oscar returned the Porsche?

Yes, I never said that he returned it.

I have also said the same thing the entire time - Oscar will enter and test the NBA draft process. If the NIL piece is fully resolved (not just the image deal as it is today) he will be back. If not, no matter his draft position, he is gone. As of today, the NIL piece is not done and there is no idea when (or if) it will be.

My prediction as of today would be the same as this Twitter guy - he is leaving. Something is going to have to change regarding NIL (more than just the image deal) for me to think otherwise.

Just read the entire thread, and it appears it’s a done deal that OT is returning. Thing is, I can’t find an official source stating it.

I’d really love to know, because I have an entire crow to eat, and indeed I will, because my source (my knowledge of how these things work in a real world) told me he was professional bound!

So what gives?

That kinda of my worry we will have a team exactly like last year missing a star player outside of Oscar

The source is unbridled and unfounded optimism.

It's not a done deal. I think it's simply a matter of Oscar wanting to return (he does), UK being onboard with the NIL stuff (they are) and his draft status being in the mid-40s.

But, until I see or hear that the NIL stuff is 100% done (done as in Oscar can do any deal he wants) I am going to be very skeptical. Unless some big money donor or company just decides to fork over $1 million+ to Oscar to use his face on a billboard there is no way he can make enough money just from his picture to not go to the NBA.

Several post stated it as a matter of fact! Funny, the more “insiders” I see come out with blind optimism, the more I’m sure he’s leaving.

College offers Oscar NOTHING besides a degree, and he can get that in his spare time. He will be a pro next season. Mark. It. Down.

Oscar returning would be a great thing. We have 2 rookies coming in, Fredrick that is iffy to return to his prior form. A point guard that can look great or get very loose with the ball at times. Toppin with the most upside and two transfer spots to fill, I hope both are shooters or we will struggle to score at times again. This is not an elite roster, a good roster but without some help on the way we are sweet 16 at best with what we have imo.

I don't disagree with that at all. My take comes from the stand point that without Sharpe coming back, we just don't have enough fire power to be title contenders. Last year's team was not great in the grand scheme of things, but I will say, we were very good considering the competition for the year. Maybe we are and Cal proves me wrong. I think history will show that unless we have more talent coming in (or back), next year won't be anything special.

I hear ya. Hoping we get a couple top transfers, and maybe more than anything, avoid the injury bug. Don't mean it to come off as an excuse, but I personally think the constant injuries helped derail what was a fantastic season.

No doubt. If anything, trying to keep expectations low so I don't get overly butt hurt at the end of the season.

Butt hurt is the only way to be with a loss in March. A loss in April is somewhat easier to stomach. But if you end your season on a loss, they all hurt. At least we have Bahamas games in August to look forward to.

Oscar had arguably one of the best seasons in UK history, won NPOY, and Calipari still managed to lose in the first round against a 15-seed. What’s there be to optimistic about? As of now, we have Livingston and Wallace coming. Toppin, Collins and Oscar back. That’s far from a “great” team.

I agree. Oscar had 30 and we lost to a 15...granted, that is an outlier and UK wins that game 9/10 times but the point is, we need some stud guards as well that can stay healthy and play some D and hit shots. Our guards sucked so bad shooting in our 8 losses, and I am not talking Wheeler.

We just lost in the first round WITH Oscar. His return doesn’t do anything but save us from another NIT bid. No idea what we have anywhere else on the court.

Why don’t people think before they post?

The last month or more of the season this team lost it's mojo..not sure how or why (injuries didnt help), but they were SOO nervous in that St. Peters game. I bet we lose to them 4 or 5 times out of 10 to them in that environment. And that's totally on Cal.

And if Lance Ware is Oscar's primary backup again then you might as well punt on the season already, because that's just not going to get it done.
