That's simply untrue. You want Oscar to be here smiling, playing for free, while he hocks chicken fingers or used cars? Lol... you sound ridiculous.
How did you get that from what I said? I don’t think there’s a market in the NBA for 6’9 centers that can’t shoot. Oscar can make a ton of money here through NIL. I’m not sure what he’d have to do but making a couple commercials and earning 7 figures is better than playing for the Austin Spurs in front of 500 people. He can go to the NBA after next year.

I think we're underselling Oscar's talent a bit. He can shoot a little bit. And there is a market for 6'9 high motor bigs who can rebound and move their feet. That's something he can definitely do.

I mean Tristan Thompson is still out here earning contracts and he's been washed.

Enes Kanter not as mobile. Eats glass. Earned millions.

Oscar can earn his spot in the league. The used car commercials will always be there imo.

Not sure what’s ridiculous. He’s not made for today’s nba. He could make millions of NIL money here. He won’t be playing for free.

For what it’s worth all of the KSR guys thinks he’s back.

What are you all talking about? The league doesn’t want Oscar. He’s barely on the draft boards and the NIL a money can be more than those 2nd round pay days which aren’t even guaranteed contracts anyways. So he’d be smarter to stick around anyhow. Do I think the NBA is making a mistake? Yes.

His development with NBA coaching would be far better, and quicker, than hanging around Lexington another year.
Cal no longer can even develop a squirrel to find a nut.

It doesn’t matter who stays, who goes, who comes, or who leaves, as long as Cal is coach, it’s just going to get increasingly embarrassing.

If no change is made, next season will be 12-14 loses guaranteed. I won’t be watching or participating in that shitshow.

He's not built for the NBA.

Remember the insane numbers Faried put up in college? Where is he these days?

Oscar doesn't have range and he can't dribble. He's not meant for the NBA.
Faried played at a mid-major. Not at a major school. Competition level is very different .
Oscar won’t be an NBA star, maybe not a starter. But he will be a specialist that contributes.. Curry and Thompson would love him getting offensive boards and kicking it back out to them for open 3’s.

For what it is worth Matt Jones said he thinks both Wheeler and Oscar return
I’d love to have Oscar back. Wheeler would be good as a backup to a pg that can make shots and is a KY caliber player. I don’t want him back as the primary PG at all.

I keep seeing people stating “if Oscar returns,” I just can’t envision a scenario to where that’s plausible. He’s likely to be named NPOY and coming off a season where he averaged 17.5/15, I don‘t see how he could top that next season. He needs further development, though he’ll get that in the league.
I agree I don’t know the KSR would mention Kentucky targeting the kid from morehead state, Kentucky probably doesn’t go after him if they think Oscar is back

Faried was in the NBA for like a decade and was effective for the majority of that time.

He absolutely was not, and no he wasn't.

He was effective for about four or five years (which is what I said above about Oscars peak longevity), which was just long enough for him to secure that second contract. Then, he proceeded to disappear.

Had he flamed out one year earlier, he makes enough to live off of if he manages his money well, but that's about it.

If he's hocking chicken fingers, is he playing for free?

Do you think he'll make more in endorsements as the 10th man for the Kings? He won't have a guaranteed contract. Probably sign a few two way deals...

NIL changed the game. The absurd deals some guys signed this year is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until next season.

Yes.

Playing basketball in exchange for currency.

Yes, he can make more in endorsements as the 10th man for the Kings, because he is marketable.

Youre high.

And you don't watch the NBA.

I've been a Rockets fan for 20 years and couldn't tell you who was on the roster past the first few off the bench.

Because they don't matter. They don't play, and they'll be shuffled up and down and traded and everything else and nobody will care.

You think Oscar is the only guy in the league with a big personality? Lol

I have been arguing on this board for weeks that Oscar is a late first round pick, as a rebounding specialist for a playoff team.
BUT...
With NIL that doesn't mean he won't return, it just makes it doubtful.
1) he seems to love it at UK and the college experience
2) with NIL we think he can take care of his mom and family
3) yes, you can develop in the league, BUT you must be close enough to contributing that they keep you around long enough to develop. I think he probably is close enough offensively, but I suppose that isn't a lock (is debatable). So maybe another year at UK gets him closer to that.

If Oscar returned, it would almost certainly be to improve his outside game, which is better than was at WVU. Much like Patterson did as a JR. As a result we would see him in the paint less on offense, resulting in fewer rebounds; which is ok but no one should expect a repeat of this season for him.
