We will have a lot of options if we can stay healthy. We can go big or go small.
I think a lot of people are forgetting that Livingston, Toppin, and possibly Collins are all very good players that require significant playing time.
Ugonna is awesome and he’s certainly the guy to get in if Oscar is getting pushed around defensively, but there’s too many mouths to feed to get Ugonna tons of minutes.
Also Ugonna is damn good, if he played too much I don’t think he’d be back here next year, I’d draft him right now based off of what I’m seeing.

Cal is a master subber. We wont go all platoon but if you are having a bad start, your out. You need a break, your out. Foul trouble, your out. Tech, your out. Injury, your out. We have all bases covered.
This will be the best team in the country all season.
Size wise Oscar definitely is a 4 at 6’8. They list him at 6’9 but you know he isnt. Collins is listed at 6’9 as well and he is clearly taller than O.

Ugonna is a true 5 at 7 foot and is a rim protector and elite shot blocker, Oscar is not. If O had a bit better handle we wouldn't even be having this conversation but be sure that Cal will often play them together as there is simply too much upside in doing so.

But he doesn’t have a better handle. He can’t handle at all
There is no way you see Oscar and Oyenso on the floor together much. We have a team that can absolutely fly up and down the floor and we have shooters galore.
Why the hell would we put a anchor around these players ankles by playing two centers that can’t really play on the perimeter together. So now the greatest strength of this team driving and Shooting is negated by clogged lanes.

- Oscar is a 5....he has no skill set besides rebounding to be a 4. He can't shoot that well up to 15 feet. He solid but it's not like he's a sharp shooter. Oscar can't handle the ball or pass from perimeter at all. He probably can't guard a good 4 as well.
- What I'd like to see happen is Oscar shaves minutes down to 30 -32 minutes a game (he was playing like 38 mpg down the stretch last year). Play even harder and not conserve energy and let Ugonna get 4 minutes each half. And really Ware is going to get pushed 100% out of minutes. Lance is a solid kid but he cna't score, he ain't near the shot blocker Ugonna is. Maybe position defense he'll be better but it's going to be hard to play him over a true rim protector
I'm fine with Oscar getting 29 mpg; keep him fresh for the long season.
That is also a good point....shaving a few minutes per game from our main guys might help them be fresher come end of season.
Playing Oscar at the 4 and Ugonna at the 5 together would be a very Cal thing to do, but I sure hope we don't see it. Bogged down lineup, no thank you.
