Does anyone know if he was contacted by Cal about coming back after he left South Florida?

Or was Cal shut down on bringing him back due by UK compliance due to the issues at South Florida?

I find it hard to believe Cal would not have wanted him back since O was available.

Where was he going to put him on his full staff? Barbee and Justus filled the spots

Is there a rule on how many assistants you can have associated with a basketball program???
I think he would have found something for him for as valuable as he was to the program.

Yes there is a limit to the number of assistants you can have.

I'll be interested if he ends up back here. I've heard from people that I think would know that with the current climate UK is afraid to bring him back. Nothing to do with the USF stuff but he had a reputation of being of our Jason Capel if you will.

Seems like the pictures with Pitino's staff while at Ky there were a ton. Tubby, Billy D just to name a few, but seemed like a lot. Not sure this is the photo I'm thinking of.

Right, but I don't think this was the pic I was thinking of. Wasn't Tubby and Billy D assistants at the same time? Who were all the assistants on that team if so?

Man those were some staffs. Even when we had Rod it was pretty good. I just think like most on here we need a shake up with the staff. Barbee is only here because he played for Cal and got fired from AUB I believe. We need some new blood on the staff. A recruiting manager like I have seen mentioned would be cool too. We just need a face these younger kids can relate to and talk NBA futures with. Or a up and coming young coach like a Billy D was for Pitino. Just seems like it's time for a change after losing Rod, Slice and O.

And this is exactly why I've been saying for a couple years now that we need Coach O back in the worst way.
Actually, I'll go further...unless Cal gets Antigua back on staff at UK, he will never win another Championship.
I'll probably get blasted for saying that but, I believe Coach O was that important to the program. Specifically, when he was here our recruit talent assessment was much, much better. We seemed to get the guys we needed to fill specific roles. Now, we seem to just sign as many 5 stars as possible and hope they fit in.
As far as Antigua being "our Jason Capel", I'm OK with that. After seeing what UNCheat, Dook, Kansas and others have gotten away with for years, we need someone in that role more than ever. No illusions of morality on my part.

Oh listen, I'm 100% with you. I think we payed for almost all the elite players we got the first 5-6 years. And I know you probably realize what that means but just to clarify for the obtuse posters I don't mean UK payed them duffel bags full of cash. I think in some cases we give players money on campus but I think it's agents/handlers/ and shoe companies and O was our liaison to them and made sure the money went to the right places. Hell, at Memphis(I'm not going to look up the name of the prep but if you don't believe me you can) Tony Barbee then O sent all these kids they were recruiting to the same shady prep school to get them eligible when they would of never been able to get eligible other wise. Actually, I just remembered the name it's Laurinburg Prep. Antonio Anderson, Shawne Williams, Joey Dorsey, Robert Dozier, all went there and there was plenty more I just can't think of off the top of my head. I think it's highly probably the 200k for AD was a real thing and a lot of people who know AD's father do too. He was worth every penny and more.

It's not me saying Cal is a scum bag cheat, they all do it Duke, UK, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, UL, IU, Oregon, literally name a school, they do it. It just blows my mind that we have these fans that think John Calipari of all people with all the baggage he has surrounding dozens of players he's coached is this lily white, choir boy, who would never cheat. It's hilarious

I agree. There are ways of insuring that players are lined up for certain benefits that don't directly taint a school or coach. And I do believe Coach O was probably in charge of that effort while at UK. But, he was also a great evaluator of talent and which recruit would best satisfy our needs. That seems to be missing from the current staff. We get the wrong guys at the wrong positions and you can eventually have guys playing out of position.

Another thought, I believe Cal snubbing the Phil Knight champions tournament, along with some active efforts to discredit Cal/UK by Capel/Dook have made the going a lot tougher for UK to get the specific guys we target. IMO, things would be much different if Antigua were still in Lexington.

Honestly i don’t care what Antigua did or didn’t do here. What I know is that he was a huge reason for all of the top end players players we used to get. Not to mention he was a big part of the development of our big men. I want him back yesterday regardless.

i have made this exact statement and been told i am a "troll" and i am not a UK fan just because i am not naive and bury my head in the sand. I honestly am not looking forward to the Nike trial later this year. Just like new unknown info came out in the Adidas trial, i am certain some will in the Nike trial also. I just hope we avoid it.

This is likely the case. I don't think Cal approached him because there isn't a vacancy right now.
If Cal had really wanted O back, there would have been a vacancy. But, Cal is loyal to a fault, especially to the guys he has hired. Might end up costing him down the road.

Until there is proof why believe UK has cheated? Why is it so hard to believe the kids wanted to go play for a championship under a Hall of Fame coach known for developing NBA talent?

Because Miracle7s is a Duke fan pretending to be a UK fan. Him calling out Cal is his way of justifying Nike sending Duke all these players recently. He's going the everyone does it route like UNC fans during their academic scandal.
