They probably figured Riley would have time to hit the recruiting trail since he wouldn't have to stand in line at the DMV to get Oregon license plates.

Erickson has to be what 66 or 67 however if I would guess it would be him coming back as an assistant

No way Oregon State is going to pay Mike Riley close to 3 million dollars per season to be an assistant coach. Riley’s new salary will help offset what he is owed by Nebraska but Nebraska will still be paying him millions to not coach.

You are right, I think he is owed $170k/mo. Which would be about $2M. Only way we get out of all that is if he gets a HC job. This would basically be a Pelini situation, where we just pay a little less.

In that respect, I would have been glad to be proven wrong had any FBS school (let alone Power 5) been willing to hire Pelini.
