Not necessarily. If Utah wins out they may jump Alabama. Oklahoma isn't completely out of it yet, either. I think the committee is really looking at body of work and teams that have to play a conference championship this year.

I'm not a Herm hater, but he's on a one-game winning streak after four straight losses. He'll do okay at ASU, but I'm not sure why some people make him a cause célèbre. He gets gushed over more than any .500 coach in the country.

Yes, ASU has six wins. The Devils are not terrible under Herm, but he basically took over a slightly above-average team from Todd Graham and they've treaded water for two years.
