Zero need for more guards. We have replaced our guys we lost with great additions . Maxey for Herro and Whitney for KJ . Whitney is better then KJ too. Maxey is a better pro prospect then Herro but I ain';t going to say he is better player . Herro is the SG to play at UK under Cal.

Please name what Bknight/Murray/Booker are lacking compared to Herro.
Well, with Murray, they shoot similarly, Herro is a better rebounder and defender. I think Herro will end up being a better shooter than Booker, he rebounds better and Booker doesn't even play defense, does he? As for Knight, you get most of the same response. Herro is a basketball player, he does most things on the court very well. He makes people around him better. We'll see in a few years I guess. You'll have to keep up with it, I'm not a big NBA fan but I do loosely keep up with UK players.

Rebounding and defense (Murray and Booker anyway) for starters.

Herro was better defensively(although no where close to an "elite" defender) but wasn't close to the offensive level of Knight Murray Monk Lamb. All of those guys can create their own shot except lamb. Lamb and herro were about the same at shot creation. Herro has average handles and athleticism. He was a good rebounder this year. but he's probably around the 5th best SG Cal has had at UK
FF shooting percentage.
Herro made a big what 3 or 4 3's in the NCAAT?

Murray was a pg but he was great too. Monk was pure offense and Herro is a great defender. Lamb was pretty good too but yes IMO Herro was the best. Just an opinion obviously but he has to be in the top 3 I doubt anyone can argue that. I would rank them 1. Herro 2. Murray ( though not really a SG) 3. Lamb. Monk just was too weak at stuff like rebounding , defense ect to put him here. Booker wasn't even a starter . He is a great NBAer but was just good in college.

If you add knight he'd be #2

I 100% agree with you but Tyler was better at rebounding and FT's
Forsure I concede that. Herro wasnt on those guys offensive levels though. Herro is an average dribbler and average athlete that depends on others to create opportunities for him to score. Thats why he ran off curl screens to shoot for a lot of his offense and rarely ISO'd him

3/18, over 4 games gets a guy a sports car nowadays! But don’t mind me, I’m just your average, garden variety butthurt fan. ;)

Ppl aren't butthurt about players going pro. Ppl are anxious/upset that we consistently lose our top 4-5 players every year. Intense Roster turnover definitely adds fatigue to the UK fan base. Thats the UK effect though so might as well get used to it. Should be happy we return AH IQ EJ NR JB, usually Cal isn't that fortunate

I can't imagine adding another guard with Ashton and Maxey probably starting. Baker and Quick can come off the bench and I don't see us adding someone to push them farther down. We need a big boy.

Lamb was a better shooter, but it stops there.
Lamb is the best 3 pt shooter Cal has ever had, and he’s in the top 3 (if not number 1) of UKs all time best shooters.

He was also a better PG when called upon then Herro in terms of ball distribution and setting up the offense.

Worse at rebounding. Defense, pretty even.

He also got to a FF his freshman year and won a championship his sophomore year.

Now it can stop there.

I am trying to figure out how Cal is going to manage the minutes with Hagans, Maxey, Quickley, and Baker.

There's only 80 minutes at the 1 and 2 spots.

Hagans is going to get close to 30. Maxey is going to get at least 25. That leaves 25 minutes for Quickley and Baker. Quickley is ahead of Baker in the pecking order based on last season's rotation. It's not likely Baker will get much time unless Cal puts him in at the 3 for a 3 guard look. But there aren't many minutes there either with Whitney and Brooks playing there.

No way we need to bring in another guard.

Even if I agreed with you that it stops there, we are talking about the best SHOOTING guard. Does it really need to go further than that??

Lamb wasnt just a better shooter, he was automatic, and was better than that in the biggest games. I'd also argue Lamb was a better defender. If Herro was near the defender everybody thought he was, Auburn wouldnt have iso'd him like they did. Sure, he can chase a guy like the Wofford kid around screens and such, but he isn't really a very good defender.

If you are listing the best shooting guard at UK during Cals time, the list begins with Lamb. Next 2 in any particular order is Murray and Monk. I could be convinced to put Herro next, but you would have to convince me. Booker falls way down the list, because at UK, he had 1 outstanding month, and unfortunately, that month was Feb, not March. I'd probably even go with Aaron Harrison over Herro. Went to 2 Final Fours, hit some of the most clutch shots I've seen and was exponentially better on defense.

Let's not forget, Herro only shot 35% from 3, and wasnt even remotely close to good from distance in the NCAA tournament.
