Did anybody else see the Instagram post of Colandrea running option drills? I think it was one of the TV stations that posted it and it clearly looked on one they were running an old school speed option.
Saw that! I hope they use itDid anybody else see the Instagram post of Colandrea running option drills? I think it was one of the TV stations that posted it and it clearly looked on one they were running an old school speed option.
It’s to get the old fans excited so they buy tickets. They will run it 1-2 times all seasonThey also mentioned “fullback”. I could see it being a gimmick play here and there. As tight as they have been about camp it had to have been an intentional show for opposing D’s to at least spend some time on.
Was it ran out of the I or the shotgun?Did anybody else see the Instagram post of Colandrea running option drills? I think it was one of the TV stations that posted it and it clearly looked on one they were running an old school speed option.
Half the NFL uses a fullback at times. At Nebraska, we used to turn out good fullbacks for years. It seems so stupid that we don't use one. They also mentioned “fullback”. Unfortunately we haven’t used them as part of the entire offense since the Solich era.Half the NFL uses a fullback at times. At Nebraska, we used to turn out good fullbacks for years. It seems so stupid that we don't use one.
I looked this up. We stopped using a fullback in 2018. Our record since then is 38-56. 23-48 in Big 10 play.
Well they’re drilling it at least. Raiola really couldn’t run it effectively. Colandrea can.We will definitely see plenty of RPOs and zone reads, but traditional option plays I doubt it.
They usually call them H backs but we’ll see Bonner line up as a fullback.Half the NFL uses a fullback at times. At Nebraska, we used to turn out good fullbacks for years. It seems so stupid that we don't use one.

Dylan wasn’t even what you call mobile at all . Colandrea isn’t just mobile he can flat out run . There is a difference between mobile and and Flat out runner. DC have to game plan for a runner.Well they’re drilling it at least. Raiola really couldn’t run it effectively. Colandrea can.
Lil bro is only 200 pounds... probably points to having problems again, again, again in short yardage and need him to be able to get 2 or 3 yards on 3rd and 2. But if they have to do it in the big 10 schedule he'll be banged up at best and injured for the season at worst. Remember that we lost HH in 2023 due to injury and Dylan in 2025 due to injury, and Dylan was hampered in 2024.Did anybody else see the Instagram post of Colandrea running option drills? I hope they ran that for the media and opponents to see and the fans rarely see it. It certainly didn't look like a QB that has done a lot of option pitches.Did anybody else see the Instagram post of Colandrea running option drills? Emmett only weighed 200 ibs . We aren’t going to run him 15 times a game on designed runs the reason Dylan got hampered and injured is because he couldn’t move to avoid sacks . It’s beneficial to the offense if you have a qb that can run it affects how the defense lines up and attacks you.Lil bro is only 200 pounds... probably points to having problems again, again, again in short yardage and need him to be able to get 2 or 3 yards on 3rd and 2. Dang 3-9 will maybe get an extension?Lil bro is only 200 pounds... probably points to having problems again, again, again in short yardage and need him to be able to get 2 or 3 yards on 3rd and 2. My assumption is that Ohio, Michigan State, Rutgers are Rhule's super bowl. If he can win those games he can keep his job and keep raking in the millions...maybe even get another extension.
Naw brah...I think Maryland, BG, and North Dakota should be auto wins....that would get him to the magical 6 that husker fans demand. Obviously if we struggle to beat BG or ND at home...dude should be fired on the spot and kicked out of the facilities like at his last job.Dang 3-9 will maybe get an extension?
You think AC is really going to avoid a big 10 pass rush on 3rd and long? We have to run him because our running back room consists of unknowns and woman beaters. I guarentee Mekhi doesn't even get through the season without being suspended.Emmett only weighed 200 ibs . Emmitt was our strength and he was elite in the open field...but he was really bad in short-yardage because his ability to move laterally just isn't productive and his low mass is a negative.Dang, I'm going to miss the dink and dunk game. Getting a 4-yard completion on 3rd and 9, and having a 73% completion rate that came with it. What will certain posters brag about now?

An H back is not a fullback. Bonner is a versatile player, but not the hammer of a lead blocker that a true fullback is. I'm talking about a dedicated fullback not a guy from a different position who occasionally lines up there. They usually call them H backs but we’ll see Bonner line up as a fullback.
Most everything switched to single back, way too much shotgun and handing off out of the draw. Football evolved. I don’t necessarily love it.Half the NFL uses a fullback at times. At Nebraska, we used to turn out good fullbacks for years. It seems so stupid that we don't use one.

It will be worth tracking to see what is off script and what actually works as designed.Don’t worry
Dana is still here
I expect to be in shotgun dinking & dunking as usual
And for all who wonder “where are the RPOs?” We ran a ton of them last year
Dana likes the RB as the “run” option. Always has, always will. It’s what he’s comfortable with. Expect this, also.
The lion’s share of AC’s rush yardage will be off-schedule. We may call a designed QB run here and there, but it is not - and has never been - what Dana wants or knows how to do.
Yeah, and I do believe that it's better to have an OC like Dana run the stuff he knows best. Most everything switched to single back, way too much shotgun and handing off out of the draw. Football evolved. I don’t necessarily love it.
Last sentence somes it up. At its core, football is a game of violent collisions. It all starts with a willingness to do that. As boring as Iowa is, they can match Ohio State physically and eke some wins against more talented teams, although that is not a sustainable model.Yeah, and I do believe that it's better to have an OC like Dana run the stuff he knows best.
But football will continue to evolve. It's cyclical. It evolved to shotgun, 11 personnel, spread formation and almost every single college team runs that. But I see the NFL reacting to the two high safety look and teams using nickle as the base defense. Teams are adjusting accordingly. More 13 personnel and some 22 personnel. Ideally, Nebraska should be running stuff like that-- be different, use the type of players that we've always been able to recruit. But that's not realistic. We can coach it and we are not physical enough.
What is this "fullback" of which you speak? They also mentioned “fullback”. I could see it being a gimmick play here and there. As tight as they have been about camp it had to have been an intentional show for opposing D’s to at least spend some time on.
As boring as Iowa is, they still rarely if ever beat top 10 teams. They don't have the play-making and lets be honest...studs from OSU, Indiana, Oregon aren't necessarily HYPED to play Iowa...they sleep walk through a couple quarters and then talent wins in the end. Would I rather be Iowa...probably...just because Ferentz is likely to retire soonish...but we know Rhule is gone in two years minimum.Last sentence somes it up. When you can get that rare combination of superior physicality with exceptional speed, and precision, you become a top five team.
the Penn State RB they brought in was going to be the short yardage option.. now I guess it will be AC.. and yeah, they will key on him and hurt him in this league. I'd probably give it to that Booth kid for short yardage.. hoping he's a bit like a Burkhead type of guy.An H back is not a fullback. Whatever. Not all of our fullbacks were 240lb hammers in Tom’s day.An H back is not a fullback. Bonner is a versatile player, but not the hammer of a lead blocker that a true fullback is. I'm talking about a dedicated fullback not a guy from a different position who occasionally lines up there.
Booth runs tough. Not sure what his true weight is. They’ve bragged up Ives’ carries as a short yardage guy.the Penn State RB they brought in was going to be the short yardage option.. now I guess it will be AC.. and yeah, they will key on him and hurt him in this league. Death, taxes and talking Ives up in the offseason.Booth runs tough. Not sure what his true weight is. They’ve bragged up Ives’ carries as a short yardage guy.
How do you think he compares to Burkhead?the Penn State RB they brought in was going to be the short yardage option.. now I guess it will be AC.. and yeah, they will key on him and hurt him in this league.
