They also mentioned “fullback”. I could see it being a gimmick play here and there. As tight as they have been about camp it had to have been an intentional show for opposing D’s to at least spend some time on.

Half the NFL uses a fullback at times. At Nebraska, we used to turn out good fullbacks for years. It seems so stupid that we don't use one.

I looked this up. We stopped using a fullback in 2018. Our record since then is 38-56. 23-48 in Big 10 play.

Unfortunately we haven’t used them as part of the entire offense since the Solich era.

Well they’re drilling it at least. Raiola really couldn’t run it effectively. Colandrea can.
Dylan wasn’t even what you call mobile at all . Colandrea isn’t just mobile he can flat out run . There is a difference between mobile and and Flat out runner. DC have to game plan for a runner.

Did anybody else see the Instagram post of Colandrea running option drills? I think it was one of the TV stations that posted it and it clearly looked on one they were running an old school speed option.
Lil bro is only 200 pounds... probably points to having problems again, again, again in short yardage and need him to be able to get 2 or 3 yards on 3rd and 2. But if they have to do it in the big 10 schedule he'll be banged up at best and injured for the season at worst. Remember that we lost HH in 2023 due to injury and Dylan in 2025 due to injury, and Dylan was hampered in 2024.

My assumption is that Ohio, Michigan State, Rutgers are Rhule's super bowl. If he can win those games he can keep his job and keep raking in the millions...maybe even get another extension. I am sure he will pull some gimmicks in those games to get the "big win".

I hope they ran that for the media and opponents to see and the fans rarely see it. It certainly didn't look like a QB that has done a lot of option pitches.

We used to have superior talent and depth in the days of Osborne. We could run smashmouth football at teams because we were simply better than 90% of the teams we played.

We also executed at an extremely high level. The speed and precision in which those teams ran plays in our heydeys was extroadinary.

We no longer even remotely have those advantages, and are out-talented by nearly half the teams we play nowadays.

We have to be somewhat tricky now with a mobile QB and elite play calling to challenge the best that we play. Sure, run some option and a FB here and there to change things up, but that should be nothing more than a few plays a game if we truly want to win games.

Emmett only weighed 200 ibs . We aren’t going to run him 15 times a game on designed runs the reason Dylan got hampered and injured is because he couldn’t move to avoid sacks . It’s beneficial to the offense if you have a qb that can run it affects how the defense lines up and attacks you.

Naw brah...I think Maryland, BG, and North Dakota should be auto wins....that would get him to the magical 6 that husker fans demand. Obviously if we struggle to beat BG or ND at home...dude should be fired on the spot and kicked out of the facilities like at his last job.

You think AC is really going to avoid a big 10 pass rush on 3rd and long? We have to run him because our running back room consists of unknowns and woman beaters. I guarentee Mekhi doesn't even get through the season without being suspended.

Haven't you seen 10 years of bad football to know exactly what is going to happen this season? How can you possibly think this is going to end well. AC couldn't even lead a 10 win UNLV team over an 8 win Ohio team 8 months ago. He played like ***. Not saying we will lose to Ohio but AC isn't a savior...he is like a 3rd or 4th option...remember Dylan gave up millions to leave NU, and Minchey also gave up money to go to a football powerhouse called Kentucky who convinced him they would give him better coaching. Lol

They said they were stealing some Vandy plays from last year. Though if you guys are as into the option. AC needs to sell the run harder. Those practices made me really concerned about that play.

Dang, I'm going to miss the dink and dunk game. Getting a 4-yard completion on 3rd and 9, and having a 73% completion rate that came with it. What will certain posters brag about now?

Emmitt was our strength and he was elite in the open field...but he was really bad in short-yardage because his ability to move laterally just isn't productive and his low mass is a negative.

Our weakness was pass protection obviously, which means we had to run short quick routes, with a run option that allowed Emmitt space, while also having a lead foot qb. We couldn't run in short yardage, we couldn't pass in long yardage...so we had to dink and dunk and get Emmitt into space. It will be even worse this year because we won't have a back who can get us yards despite **** blocking...and AC doesn't have a pro-arm nor do we have WRs to threaten a defense deep...and Rhule offensives are always bad.

Don’t worry

Dana is still here

I expect to be in shotgun dinking & dunking as usual

And for all who wonder “where are the RPOs?” We ran a ton of them last year

Dana likes the RB as the “run” option. Always has, always will. It’s what he’s comfortable with. Expect this, also.

The lion’s share of AC’s rush yardage will be off-schedule. We may call a designed QB run here and there, but it is not - and has never been - what Dana wants or knows how to do.
