I saw that. I think it's only in Atlanta right now. And there's not a KFC was near me anyway. But otherwise, I'd try it. I'm not a vegan or anything close to one. But I like it when technology improves things and that's what I perceive is happening with the fake meat stuff lately.

That said, I think this is the first wave. The current fake meat is what it is, which is a lot better than before but still can get a lot better yet. The main benefit of this wave of publicity isn't the fake meat sales per se but rather is getting more people used to the idea, which a prerequisite for it becoming more widespread. The technology will keep improving and as it does the "weird" factor will be lessened and more people will be willing to give it a try and as it gets better, the thing they're trying will be better. It's a long game.

What somewhat fascinates me about tech advances and food is it forces some people to confront contradictory ideas. For example, on the political Left for a long time we've had "go easy on the environment" and we've had "don't be cruel to animals" and we've also had a degree of "Nature is God and the food Nature/God provides is sacred." Fake meat yells "YES!" on both of those first two items but at the same time it yells "NOOOOO!!!!!" on the last item since it is profundly "unnatural."
