He’s essentially playing Lance Ware’s position and while I loved LW’s effort, Ugo is definitely an upgrade. At the very least, he’s a 7 footer with 5 fouls to give. He’s much more than that tho and will show it in flashes this year, in my opinion.
If he wasn't he should have been, it is the most misleading and useless stat ever invented
I was not big on UGO returning this game or really even being a part of this team. I will say he seemed much quicker getting up and down the floor this year than last and made some great defensive plays tonight. Thought he played outstanding tonight with it being his first live game action in almost a year. Showed a lot more potential tonight than I saw in him last year.
Actually puked during the shoot around before the game.Not bad for a guy puking his guts out two days ago, only been practicing for a week and seeing his first action since last year.

That’s what we really need from him. He can come in and disrupt those straight lines drives we were giving up early in the year. Great first game back for the Big fella.
It feels damn good to win another great game. I like this trend, makes the week so nice waiting for the next game, which is Loserville! Haha beat down city.
No doubt, that’s all the production we need from him the occasional dunk or put back, rebound, and block shots.

+- is a terrible judge of how a player played IMO. Sometimes it shows the real picture but a lot of times it doesn’t.
He helped keep Bacot in check all night. Only 9/6 on the night. Cal has done a great job game planning against him since he’s been there.
My only hesitation was rust and if Cal would force 3 big men in at once.
Thiero is a must keep, I would love to keep Ugo as well but he already tried to bolt so no telling. I think Adou knows his place and had a plans he’s getting good minutes and producing. He will be a big part of next years squad.
As long as we WIN #9 otherwise hell will come down on the NCAA for holding BIG Z out all season!!!
Gotta wonder whose call it was having Onyenso flown to Atlanta the morning of the game and still playing the kid after he was puking at the shoot around and literally played with the flu? He played that well no where NEAR 100%. Just really odd thing since they left him in Lexington from the get go.
There has been a lot of chatter lately that the whole "late enrollment" thing may have not been real. Meaning Z really needed to be here must sooner than he was to enroll in Fall semester and be eligible on the court.
Wondering if it may be as simple as him being eligible for spring semester.
Either way, seems like he may be out starting 4 next year.
I don't think Bacot or any of the heels wanted anything to do with Ugo. Ugo and Thiero had them thinking twice about coming inside. Just what we were missing on this team IMO.
Thiero had one that looked like a spiked volleyball as well...
Just having him or Bradshaw in the game makes peoples hesitate about driving the basketball. The negativity of some people on this board has went from laughable to strange to borderline psychotic. Good to have him back.

You take that any day. He's exactly what this team needs, and his presence will be huge for us as the season goes along.

I wish we'd quit using this totally meaningless stat. This is a team sport - you can't put the results of part of the game on 1 person. Hell he could be the only one to score any points while he was in. Have you ever seen this stat used in football for let's say a TE? Same worthless stat in any team sport.

If a guy is just standing out there with 4 guys balling out his +- is good even though he may have never touched the ball or guarded anyone.
Conversely a guy can be dominating his position with 4 guys that can’t play and his +- is bad.
