Ono with a 10-0 tech in about 3:30. 3 tds and 2 guts.

I didn’t realize how good he is defensively. In his U20 and senior titles he was so offensive that he didn’t really have to defend. These matches he didn’t attack quite as much but no one came close to scoring on him. He catches hands and wrists like Blaze does and is able to control the handfight. When he does attack it’s beautiful. He can attack both legs and finishes super quick. His head pinch is as good as I’ve seen and he also threatens it before running around for an easy go behind. The competition wasn’t great at this event but his last opponent is a truly legit guy. My number one wrestling wish is that we get Ono in the lineup this coming season. It will be electric

That was impressive. Ono is just so explosive when he decides to hit a move. His speed is off the charts. When you combine his speed and explosiveness with how strong he is, he is just a horrible matchup for even the best wrestlers. His success with the head pinch/chest wrap causes his opponents to belly down in defense, making it much easier for him to get a go-behind. Watching Ono this tournament has made me that much more excited to see him wrestle for Penn State this upcoming season. Last season's Penn State team had arguably the most dominant dual meet season in NCAA history, but I wouldn't be surprised if this upcoming season's team surpasses last season's dual meet season dominance.

Thanks for holding the flame, @zzs006 and @Psalm 1 guy! I did pass out on the couch before the final, lol...

I finished my silly effort be a one-man TrackWrestlling for this single-bracket foreign language tourney I slacked off in the early rounds and only recorded winners, not scores, but I think it's otherwise complete, Lol. I'm weirdly drawn to the ASCII style bracket though--I may find reasons to use that again.

Here is a link to watch every one of Ono's matches:
And here's the Final PbP:

Final Mat A (56) Masanosuke Ono vs Kento Yumiya

1st
  • 5:51 Yumiya drives off the whistle, and Masa head-pinches, doesn’t quit break 90, but scoots behind for the go-behind 2-0
  • 5:47 adds a gut 4-0
  • He’s holding center but seems content to hand fight.
  • 4:00 Ono misdirects to a single and cooly finishes 6-0
  • 3:12 digs a hook and nearly drives him out, but Yumiya circles in. 6-0
2nd
  • 2:46 Yumiya shoots, Ono catched the head, threatens his head pinch, and goes behind, gets a gut to finish the 10-0 TF and is now qualified for Japan’s Emperor’s cup in December.

My dream:

Stillyboys do a breathless documentary on Jax bettering Cael by going undefeated without a RS.

Then Ono just smokes him - teching him with about 7 lightning fast takedowns.

This will happen Inshallah!
