Real OGs didn’t eat (or have) Taco Bell and Subway in the Union.

Real OGs ate at the House of BBQ after a night at the landing. Steak Sandwich with cheese please...can someone describe the napkin holders?

Hell yes!

Only the real OG’s were there at the Hunt Club, getting Dizzy with the Scottish Slam Fire dancer.....we will go with, Mungo.

Full kilt armed with a 6 ft Section of antique Scot Navy Anchor chain ....which had either lasers attached to each end...or fire balls....I get my Scottish laser shows mixed up.

He would whoop the chain to the beat of the music, what a sight to see.

If you got sea sick, you could spend some down time in the front bar, listening to Carol and Jeff do a karaoke duet of “Its Your Love” by Tim and Faith...maybe take a breather with a fireball shot, why not, it’s free with your bootleg coupon!

We were unified by air, motivated by nothing. 1 big warehouse. Like the old west....The SkoalPosse....The South Paws.....The Big Dick Bandits.... packs of people moved through there....

hell, every once and awhile you might find someone passed out otw to the bathroom....keep moving, it’s all gonna be ok.....17ing real buzzards circling overhead...and just as you think you have made it to the Back pisser...long tight hallway...Boom, you pop out like the kids in the 17ing chocolate factory!

the real Wild West! BIGGeR warehouse! Pop, someone just got shot, keep moving!

Pool tables, juke boxes, I saw a 17ing horse in there one night. Like you just played the real life WestWorld. Time stopped.

we were all beta nut bread crazy .... But man, if I could do it 1 mo gin

The House of Death is a different story
I made that mistake once . . . ONCE!
.

what? Sorry for your loss..

as for the landing...met #80 from the county(inside joke..but you can guess who #80 is) there twice. First time was low key on a Monday or Tuesday..he came back a year or 2 later and it was madness...and a brawl broke out.

And a pool hall. First time I ever saw a snooker table. That did not end well for me.

I really miss the snooker tables in pool halls and rec centers. I had a 14 ounce stick that I had sanded down to about 11 just for playing that game.

Never, ever broke with it.

I had it stored at a local hall until some redneck football player found it and pounded it on the eight ball table all night and broke it.

I wasn't very good but it was more fun than 8 ball.

Its a Lane. They gave me a certificate to go pick out any recliner in the store. I walked in the next day with and in typical broke college kid fashion asked for the most expensive leather recliner I could get. He took me to this one and we loaded it in the back of my 1995 z71. I looked at getting some leather work done one my head rest that had the MSU/LSU final score and had SEC CHAMPS. Just never could find someone to do it. This recliner is ageless tho, and im 6’3 270 lbs. The only issue it has is if my wife sits in my lap the foot leaver automatically kicks up.
The recliner has successfully made it through 2 years at MSU, 2 year at our first home after getting married, a 3 year move to Hendersonville, Tn, 1 year stay at a rental in Florence, and now 9 years at our home in Madison.

It was a comfy chair, young B.

That was the real beginning of The End wouldn’t you say...I always thought so.

Most would say this was the beginning of The End but they'd be wrong. The actual beginning of The End happened in Baker, LA sometime between March 4th and March 7th of that year. R.I.P. Paul Broussard

I remember there was a beautiful oak tree in front of the union when I started. A huge storm came through and trashed it while I was there. In its place went a horrendous piece of modern art.

That horrendous piece of art used to be parked in front of Allen Hall.

I remember that snooker table. Was there one afternoon between classes playing snooker. There was a guy there who looked to be in his mid-thirties. It was obvious that he was not a student. He stood by the table and watched us play. After the game he came over and bet us five bucks he could put a snooker ball in his mouth and close it. Those snooker balls are smaller that regular pool balls, but still we thought “no way”. So the wager was made. The guy to our surprise had no teeth. He put the snooker ball up to his mouth, but it wouldn’t quite fit in. After he struggled to get the snooker ball in his mouth to no avail one of us reached down to pick up the five spot, but he said, “No wait, I can do it”. He then took his right hand and gave the snooker ball a fairly hard bump, and it went popped in. He picked up the five; put it in his pocket. He then reached in to pull the ball out of his mouth. He tried and tried to get it out, but it was stuck. Try as he may, he could not get it out. Guess the snooker balls were a little bigger than the ones he had used previously in his con game. I will never forget the look on the guys face.

I was never much of a bowler, but I had my best game ever in the Union alley, on the lane on the right hand side. Had a 247 - as I recall, all strikes until an open in the 10th. Got nervous I suppose. I think you got 3 games for $1 then, which was a lot of money considering a "student plate" in the cafeteria was 50 cents (meat, 3 veggies, dessert, and drink).

What restaurants have been in the Roberts Building across from Sessums? I can’t remember all of the things that were in there. At one point it was a mini mart. Then some off brand restaurant.

That was the Great Wall. In between the Wendy's and the Subway, with Taco Bell on the far right end of the lineup. What a time to be alive!

How many of you also had your PO Box in the bottom of the Union?

My PO box was across Lee Blvd from the Union in the post office. Is the post office still there?

Every day on my way to work in columbus:

"A Big Chef large order of fries and a medium coke please"

Seems like it was about $2.90.

When I was a freshman in the fall of 1973, on Monday nights you could go to Perry Cafeteria and get about a 12 ounce rib eye, baked potato, salad, and desert for $1.25. We pretty much made it every Monday night.

The Landing was basically pool mixed with a little unsanctioned UFC most nights. I still have a vivid memory of a roided up dude dragging a guy with his left hand while pounding him into oblivion with his right hand. Made vow right then to always be in good enough shape to outrun the dudes who waddle walk...

I don't think so, with the renovation and putting all of the fast food places on the bottom floor.

I am wondering whether people still put loads of laundry detergent in the fountain by the Union, or if that fountain is still there.

I recall during one halftime show at the hump, they threw a piece of plywood on the court and a girl tap danced on it. Not a painted piece of wood, but some sheet you would see at the lumber yard.

Danvers was the bees knees. $1 bought you a juicy home style burger. Don’t pay extra for a cheeseburger - just load it down with grated cheese from the fixin’s bar.

Me too. The worst beatdown I ever saw was the night before the first day of class. It was packed to the gils on those nights. It was standing room only in the parking lot and some dude tried to drive through it. Apparently he bumped somebody with his car and that is when it started. I was standing there bs'ing with friends when I went flying. There were several football players there and they picked people up and threw them out of the way to make a circle around the car. The guy that got bumped grabbed the guy out of the car, threw him on the hood and started pounding. The guys girlfriend gets out and jumps on the guy's back. He flings her off and a football player held her. After a while, the players stepped in and stopped the beatdown but the guy on the hood started mouthing off so they turned the guy loose on him again.

ETA: The little entrance way before you went into Mulligans was another good spot to see or get into a fight. I swear I saw more there than I did on ESPN.
