I think the consensus before and maybe even after the Bama game was we were good for 8 wins. After the performance today, and how teams like Auburn look, I’m guessing the consensus is much lower.

Yeah, for me it wasn’t nearly as much about losing the game to Bama as it was losing players to injury. It’s like we blinked, and all of a sudden K1 and Fluff are badly banged up, Smith is dealing with a shoulder injury, Jones is in a cast, and three key players from our front 6 are lost for the season. It just sucks

But yeah, I said we’d be lucky to get to 6 wins after the Bama game, and I’ll stick to that. K1 and Fluff aren’t going to get healthy this season, and our defense is not good(at all) which isn’t a great recipe for the rest of the season

No not me! Just so typical State football. Drink the kool-aid, get all excited about having a decent season and then have it all jerked away. Been doing it for 50yrs+
It’s crazy…every year, for 50 years or so now, I think this will be the year when we start a winning trend. And every year, something happens to wreck my hopes. Even when we’re good, we’re bad!

Even when we had DAK, our defense was solid to very good. That is the recipe for State. Bring in a sitting head coach who is a defense savant, hire a powerhouse OC and build from the defensive side financially! State won with defense under Sherrill too. Of course not going to win scoring ZERO like yesterday, but a great defense can help you win games 28-17 and 24-14. $250k running backs and $300k wide receivers along with a $2.5 million offensive line built from the ground up.

They need to sit Smith for the next few games. Of course the kid wants to play but the coaches need to save him from himself. He has a future on sundays. But not if his shoulder is minced meat

Yeah. I said before the season 6-6 would keep Lebbys job. 15 days ago that looked like a slam dunk. Right now it’s looking kind of doubtful.
I think his job is safe especially with the injuries. Admin will justify it as “what coulda been” and “Gotta keep K1”. They can also point to the first home SEC win and first beat a ranked SEC in a long time.

And I think we’ll beat Vanderbilt anyway which will give us 6 wins and assure it. Plus even if worst comes to worst and we do go 5-7, if it looks like Keeping Lebby would keep Taylor I think we have to keep him. My general rule is you don’t keep a coach for the recruiting class or the players. But this is a special player.

Not that I’m disagreeing, but I had to laugh a little at the thought of winning a home conference game as being some kind of coaching accolade. Only at State

Beat an incredibly beatable Oklahoma team on our home field and most everyone will be back on board.

People are mostly just scared about Kamario’s health and it’s causing them to panic about the back half of the schedule, not really acknowledging that 4-2 was probably our best case scenario at this point even if fully healthy

This is so, so, so sad a statement. It took him 3 YEARS to accomplish this? That's your reason to keep him around, he finally won a home SEC game in year 3?

I think if anyone was at any point counting Oklahoma and Auburn as auto wins, they were jumping the gun majorly. Even if we were fully healthy. Those have both always been 50/50 or 60/40 games at best.

My opinion of Vandy is considerably lower after watching them lose at home to Arkansas. So I think we’ll get to 6.

But OU and AU were always going to be tough games.

I said after the Missouri game the only games left I had confidence in were Vandy and TN Tech.
Part of the reason I felt that way was our lack of depth. I didn't think we would lose KT but Fluff wasn't looking good, and we lack depth at every position.

Without KT, this team is just the 2024 team with some really fast receivers.

I don't even want to hear "we would have done better without the injuries". Injuries are part of the game, especially in the SEC. If anyone did not factor the probability of injuries into their predictions, thats on them.

Our head coach has learned a couple of things in his three years at the helm, but he's still retarded.

My enthusiasm has been completely deflated since Saturday.
I didn't expect to look like the same team without two key players, but I sure didn't expect to look like we didn't even belong in the SEC without two key players.

It's like I've seen this season play out before

4-0, lose a hyped SEC game at home, go on the the SEC road and get destroyed........

Will Lenny bumble up the OU game like he did Fla? Of course. Then ironically we have Texas the next week

Libby has to win this game. If we lose, esp if Taylor plays, people/players will lose hope and it will turn into disaster quickly
