Your all's ignorance knows no bounds! 🤣

Maybe you can explain for us how that gets us around the astronomical buyout Cal is owed?
Well in all fairness OP said is cal resigns, not get fired. If he leaves in his own free will he’s owed nothing.

I do believe this entire contract was setup so that cal could coach until it was ran out and then retire while still being the ambassador.

In my personal opinion cal is here until this contract is up and he quietly retires. Bad news for us fans is it’s only going to get worse until that happens

the only way Cal goes is to make him miserable

take away his control of scheduling, limit his recruiting options, cut his budget, require him to attend weekly meetings with the AD, open practice to reporters and have a Q&A at the end until all their questions are answered.

I'm not saying that should be done, but Cal would walk away from that.

Require him to attend a coaching clinic... [laughing]

And who exactly is going to be in charge of the scheduling and recruiting options? The same AD that people also want fired? You really want to intentionally knee cap the basketball program to get Cal out?

I find it funny the same people who claim if you still support Cal you're not a real fan of the program want to intentionally harm the program because they don't like the coach.

I said last year fine him $500K for every transfer out of the program.
Might be one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Do you think college basketball players are human beings who make their own decisions or robots who only do what the coach tells them to?

the internet equivalent of sticking your finger in your ears and screaming LALALALALALALA for 10 minutes

if you can't fire someone you make them miserable at their job until they leave - Its not a hard concept to understand

nope not at all

but I also believe that Cal doesn't put enough emphasis on retaining players that don't fit his model and he needs to be incentivized. Now do I really think fining a coach $500K is within the realm of possibility?, no of course not, and even worse, I assumed that people would see that as hyperbole and not literally, but that was my mistake.

The point is Cal needs an AD to forcefully step in and set boundaries and expectations for how the program needs to be handled and Cal will only respond to two things - financial incentive and loss of control

yea, I'd hate to kneecap the program and end up with the worst season in UK basketball or maybe the worst loss in UK basketball history

I'm not trying to harm the program. I'm trying to keep a coach from harming it more.

Why not just have Pitino take Cal out for Italian food and let him have some dessert that he gets caught with and then see what happens.

Under Barnhart the basketball program has tanked. We no longer own the most wins and the program just got beat by a 15 seed. You have a coach that makes $27,000 a day coaching who has no ability to develop players. Remember when Barnhart called anyone who complained microwave fans? Just the fact that Barney was stupid enough to give anyone a lifetime contract is grounds to fire him. Keep Cal and fire the one who created this mess.

You do realize Mitch is the Athletics Director and not the Basketball Director, correct?

No one is happy with how this season ended. But there's a huge gulf between thinking the ending was unacceptable and wanting to hatch a secret back room plot to remove a coach. This is a basketball program, not Game of Thrones.
All decisions to remove a coach start out in secret

Mitch is not remotely on the hotseat
Only way he leaves if for more money.
No one is firing Mitch
Mitch is not firing Cal
Its just that simple.

Why do you diss Oscar?
how is that a diss on Oscar?

You're touting paying Cal a bonus for us his use of the transfer portal

The transfer portal did not get us any further to a national championship.

Oscar is a great kid, and should be that player all college basketball players aspire to be.

But we don't hang banners (at least we haven't sunk there yet) for recruiting classes and great transfer portal landings

Resign? Oh, Barnhart thought you said re-sign. He just offered him a raise and 2 lifetime contracts.
