Super tough, crazy talented, great shooters, upperclassmen that love their school and want to be there.

That's what college basketball should be like.

Not a senior on the team either. Will be interesting to see who all comes back for them.

Jay Wright gets the job done with a mostly 3 and 4 stars, seems a great judge of talent..
He's probably going to win another title next season.

They've got some studs that play great defense, and they have numerous great shooters. That's a badass college basketball team. Makes me realize it can still be done the way Wright is doing it.

Wrong on the 1st part.

Brunson 5 star
Spellman 5 star
Bridges, Booth, Di Vincenzo 4 star.

Paschall was overlooked, but it wasn't really Villanova that found him, He had a monster freshman year at Fordham, then transferred.

And they really didn't play many guys beyond that except when they absolutely had to, though they do have two 4 star freshmen.

Wright has been on a hot streak recruiting, but then, nearly every good coach goes through a period where nearly every player he signs seems to pan out. It rarely lasts, though. Wright will probably start to get higher rated talent now, but we'll see if it turns out as well for him as his last 4-5 recruiting classes have.

Didn’t they get a big recruiting class of five stars like in 2011 and then bombed? Might want to look that up to see if I got the year right. But I remember reading Wright saying he changed his approach after that.

Hes got a great recruiting base in Philly and Villanova gets kids that want to play there and have great pride in playing there. Much like what Mark Few has done at Gonzaga (recruit northwest kids who grew up fans of the program and play with pride).

Has to be 09. They signed 3 guys rated in the top 25, none of whom turned out to be all that much. Those 3 were the foundation for the lost season Villanova had in 11-12.

Agree. 4 years ago they were the team that couldn’t win in March. 1&2 seeds but couldn’t get out of the first weekend. They have a good team and played well at the right time and won a couple. It’s not really time to re-think college basketball or change strategies any more than it was when KY won in 2012 and everyone was thinking the game had totally changed with OAD. Room for everyone and every approach with good players and coaches.

Their rebounding was amazing last night. Completely owned the glass on both offense and defense.

Nova beat Michigan by 9 in the first half and 8 in the second. Total domination. Reminded me of the ‘12 team that won by at least 7.

What would it feel like to be up 20 with 3 to go in a national title game lol.

Yes.

It mostly comes down to getting the right players. And no, it doesn't have to be all top 10 guys for Cal to make it work. It has to be the right combination.

Did UK go 38-1 in 14-15 because of the returnees? I mean, they were good players, and UK doesn't go 38-1 without them, but what amped that up a notch was that KAT, Lyles, Ulis, and Booker were all major recruiting hits, guys as good or better than any reasonable expectation.

Stop with the facts.... you ruin the emotions of the moment

Wasn't Duke being proclaimed bank to back champs just two years ago? Then champs one year ago and K the greatest.

This board will never show spurts of consistency, expect it will always be fickle.

He's probably going to lose Brunson, Bridges, and maybe Spellman.

Brunson and Bridges have nothing left to prove in college, and an extra year will do exactly 0 for their NBA stock. Spellman might strike while the iron is hot. If those 3 go, they'll be lucky to stay in the top 10.

That's just how college basketball works.

The 2012 UK team was heads and shoulders better than this Villanova team. An all-star at every position. That season they set so many records you can’t keep count.

The 2009 UNC team was better than this Villanova team. They averaged
88 points a game in the NCAA tournament, their opponents 68. After leading by 21 at half-time, they demolished a Michigan State team in title game 89-72.
