We were good enough to overcome it today, but that doesn't change the fact that the officials did everything they could today to keep Wofford in the game. Their big guy Jackson had two in the first 8 minutes and then drew three consecutive charges that weren't even close. Our guys were hacked all game without calls but then crucial fouls were called on Keldon, Montgomery, and Richards for just breathing on people.

I feel like I'm going crazy, but is it not every freaking game nowadays that we're playing 5 on 8. I have pretty much come to terms with the fact that somebody high on the totem pole has it in for us/Cal.

agree! Travis was forearmed out of bounds in first half and called for a foul when his big sized body does not moved that way! Hand check rule and flopping done ! I knew the 2 point lead with a BS call could do us in!

Compared to what we see in the sec, I didnt think they were terrible. Not too many blatantly incompetent calls. Just several hit or miss calls that didnt go our way. If that is the worst officiating we get the rest of the year I'll take it!

I usually figure it balances out for the most part but if the refs are calling flops and rewarding shooters for sticking out their arms and legs to draw contact after the shot then it won’t even out unless Kentucky changes everything and starts doing the fainting goat routine.

The players are simply too big and athletic for the game to be called well. How often do really watch a game and are satisfied with how it was officiated.

Live it seemed we got a tough whistle in the first half and it got better after halftime. Overall, it’s a tough one to complain about since we won.

i don’t understand that logic though. When we started to pull away at 8, they called two BS fouls in a row on us. Kept us from taking that 8 point lead and running away with it.

If Tyler doesn’t have giant stones and hit that pull up three, then they’re probably shooting for the lead. Just because it doesn’t go wrong doesn’t make the crap officiating right.

I hear you, but the out of bounds that went our way and the no foul call when they shot point blank layups seemed to make it pretty even down the stretch.

I thought overall they were pretty average today. Missed a lot of calls both ways. The missed double dribble after the missed 5 second violation was terrible. It seems that all year Reid is called for fouls that aren’t called on our end though. Yes he’s bigger and stronger than most guys guarding him but that doesn’t justify calling the game different on each end. That’s been my biggest complaint. If it’s a foul on one end then you gotta call it on the other end.

We are hated end of story.

44 S16 will do that esp when the next closest team is the Cheaters with 33.

IOW UK is a virtual lock for the S16 every season.

I certainly admit I am biased, but there were several key moments today where I almost screamed. That loose ball where Herro jumped in and grabbed the rebound with both hands, got mauled, and then a foul was called on Keldon (his 4th) was a sequence that got me riled up. I will admit, though, we could have been called for a foul on a Fletcher Magee three late in the game, but no call. Magee also had a layup in the 2nd half that should have been an and-1.

The officiating has been bad in several of these games in the last few weeks. I was glad to be rid of Shows but today we get Sirmons. If we know their names, that's not a good thing.

I refer back to my thread last week about officials trying to keep key players in the game. Its the main problem with officiating these days. They try to keep each team's key player in the game. They knew that Wofford didnt have any chance to win this game without #33. So, they consciously made an effort to keep him in the game. The fouls should not have been anywhere near equal. Two completely different styles of play. One attacks the basket and the other shoots mostly 3s. Yet somehow, they were close. That takes a conscious effort. Its just so frustrating.

I thought the officiating was incompetent but awful for both sides. I did get the impression that they were calling some BS fouls on Wofford as makeups for terrible calls on us. It just hurts us more because our bench is so short.

It always comes down to who got the last bad call.

The officials are mostly humans, bar a few that are not. As humans or not, each without admitting is partial to some teams, and can't stand some others. If there was a way that officiating was done by computers, it still won't be perfect, but better than human officials with their own agenda.

If you go to most any other board in the world they will tell you we got the calls. Most reffing threads are just silly.

They are not silly, they are just bad officials for both teams and need to be called out.

Haven’t had a chance to watch our game yet, but in general I’ve seen a few head scratchers for the tournament so far. There was an AWFUL F1 called on a kid the First Four. Michigan St got away with several travels tonight. There have been a few block/charge calls I thought were questionable.

Overall not horrible considering these guys are trying to out ref each other to get to the third and fourth rounds.

I'm late to this party, but I thought the Officials called a great game. They were consistent and fair.

Yes I screamed BS at my TV on a few calls. But Wofford fans were screaming too.
